The Dogmother
My first fasting day for ages and I'm so busy that I haven't really noticed not eating
Valkyrie
I think that's the good thing about it. When I get stuck into things as long as I get a drink then I don't notice the hunger. If it is hunger. Perhaps it's the body saying it needs more fluids - they always say that being hungry is often confused with the need to drink. Ain't Nobody Here
And conversely, drinking is often associated with unnecessary hunger .
Valkyrie
Oh poo - not going to win there then! LOL! Noooo don't burst my little bubble! But I do know I have never drank enough - permanent state of dehydration because I'll wait till I'm thirsty - and that's when it's probably a bit late. But on the good side of things I weighed in at 16st 8 - I think it's going off my chest though. Again what with the flat chest and round everywhere else!!!! Stamps and has hissy fit! I'm not likely to fall over in high winds though.
The Dogmother
I always think it's so unfair that when you gain weight, it goes on your bum and tummy, but when you lose it, it seems to go from your boobs and face False start for me; good fast day on Tuesday, but the ghastly cold and cough is now a chest infection, so I am on penicillin and have to take them 3 x a day WITH FOOD! Oh well, will start again when the course is over... i need to eat carefully now and take probiotics.

LolaLayla
Got back on course for a few weeks but I have been off it for the past 3 weeks as I have had a lot going on. However come June I will definitely restart!
The Dogmother
I did well, was having lovely salads for lunch at work... With grilled chicken, yoghurty dressing, almonds etc. have done a couple of fast days too. Tummy bulge is going
Valkyrie
Holiday spoilt all my hard work! Finding it hard to get into the swing as hubby expects good stuff - and then expects desserts! Of course I could refrain, but I seem to be doing different dinners for everyone and a different one for me is just one different one too many. Also have another holiday coming up so I think after that I can get myself back on track. Very frustrating as I just can't seem to get my mojo going! The Dogmother
I think I'll join you in your 'corner of disgrace' Val; I've had two very stressful weeks, early starts at work, long days and a very grumpy teenager. Have been eating utter rubbish and need to fast for a day and take it easy after that. I'm back on the exercise routine though.
Ain't Nobody Here
Me too .
Valkyrie
Tentatively weighed myself and I wasn't as bad as I thought - half a stone, so with all that relief I've started again. Edited to add we've had little walks when we've been out but it's too hot to do our usual marching anywhere. And watering the garden with a can - up and down the blinking slope to refill is exercise - sweating buckets by the time I've finished! bluekarin
I have been thinking of doing this for a while. I have my brothers wedding coming up in December in Chicago so want to get a bit slimmer for all the photos Have signed up to the forum mentioned in the earlier pages of this thread (Neelachops is my name on there) and will have a look later. chickencam
Might have to give this a go after a week of eating ice cream, eating out a lot and quite a bit of real ale and wine. I have done loads of walking and swimming though.
mullethunter
1 asda melting middle chocolate pudding with a little scoop of ice cream is 600 calories. If that was what I ate every fast day maybe I could do it!
The Dogmother
I need to get back on the wagon; stress has got the better of me the last 2 or 3 weeks, and I have been interspersing my good meals with utter rubbish
Purplemaniacs
DD is trying this, now that little one is over a year and only fed at night. She can only manage one fast day each week at the moment. I hope this will work, I guess one day must be better than no days Chrissie
Princess Leia
I gave up my attempt with 5:2 as it didn't suit me; WW seems to suit me better. However, DH has kept on with it and has now lost 2 stone. Now 14 1/2 stone, but he's also 6ft 5in tall. I've told him that it's enough but he wants to go a bit further... chickencam
Resurrecting this thread, is anyone still doing this. I have just started again. I did the 8 hour diet for several months about a year ago and lost nearly a stone but a fair amount of this has gone back on since the turn of the year. I find this easier because once I've told myself no food until tea time and get past breakfast I quite like the discipline and very much look forward to my evening meal. I also like the normal eating for the rest of the week.
The Dogmother
I need to get back on it too Liz; it all went to pot on holiday - as it should! And since I have been back, we've had lots of entertaining going on at work, so hard to do it. I heard of one person who does their fasting overnight... light supper, then nothing until lunchtime the next day. I may be inheriting a Nutribullet from a friend; husband bought one and it's never been out of the box!!!! So I think I will get into juicing and work that into the 5:2 eating system. chickencam
The 8 hour diet is a bit like overnight fasting but oviously for 16 hours in total and every day which I found hard. I love breakfast so it was hard missing that everyday, I did it during the summer and autumn when we were often at the allotment until 9pm so would eat late which then meant I had to fast until 2pm the following day. I am preferring the eat nothing until my evening meal two days a week, this also means I can then have a more substantial meal to look forward to. The Dogmother
I can't do without breakfast either.
Ain't Nobody Here
I've gone back on it recently too (as I was putting all the weight back on ). I'm quite happy missing breakfast so tend to fast from teatime to when I get home from work about 4pm. I find it easy on the days I work, Mon-Wed, but I'm a bit haphazard with the rest of the week. I have lost a few pounds already but I am running every day this month so that might be helping!
chickencam
It was lovely having breakfast this morning after yesterday's fast. I think that I appreciate my food more. I have discovered that I weigh less than one of my children though, she is taller than me and has proper Marilyn Munroe curves, but I had no idea that she would weigh nearly a stone more than me . Mine must just be badly distributed because she looks gorgeous and I look lumpy . Although that said she is very self conscious about her curves so we are never happy
