pips_pekins
Stinky is almost 7 now and for years I have been trying to persuade OH that we should think about getting another dog. One of his biggest arguments was that he was unsure how she would be with a puppy as she can be a bit grumpy with younger dogs. Our friends who we see regularly and who look after her when we go away, got a puppy a few months ago and Stinky absolutely loves her to bits soooo, OH has agreed that we can go and see a friend who has a litter of English Springer Spaniels Of course we are only looking I am so excited. Their lovely girl has had a litter of 9. She is related to our Stinky and they have been bred by the same family we got her from so we know they are carefully bred by experienced breeders. mollyripkim
Oh that's so exciting, good luck but only looking of course that's how I ended up with three dogs but don't regret it for a minute.
Purplemaniacs
How exciting I love springers, OH has always wanted one and we plan to get one when we retire, still a while to wait. DD who has just had a baby pointed out that each time she has a baby I have a puppy that was true for her first two girls but I must resist this time, or so OH tells me Enjoy your looking Chrissie
bluekarin
How exciting! I look forward to the puppy pictures I also meant to say I love the name you have given your dog
pips_pekins
How exciting! I look forward to the puppy pictures I also meant to say I love the name you have given your dog It's not what we shout in the park but just kind of stuck as she is always rolling in something or other I walk with a friend who has two immaculate akita who never do a 'drop and roll' and so it started in texts. Now it is her family name (apart from DS who calls her Princess pants as she has urinary incontinence which is controlled with medication!) Yes, I have washed his mouth out
The Dogmother
Awww, gorgeous. LBB had a litter of springer beauties recently - I went over to help them socialise.... it involved me being rolled on, chewed, licked and kissed; not too much of a hardship as you can see! My two gave me a good sniffing over when I got home Puppies and kittens are 'strong medicine' and ought to be available on the NHS
Lavenders_Blue
That looks like an absolutely awful experience DM, I don't know how you managed to put up with it! (Those puppies are SOOOO cute!)
The Dogmother
As we all know, poopies are vile, stinky, nasty tempered things................. (it was bliss)
pips_pekins
Puppies and kittens are 'strong medicine' and ought to be available on the NHS Totally agree; certainly helping me. LBB's pups are such cuties. As we all know, poopies are vile, stinky, nasty tempered things................. (it was bliss) You sound like my inlaws Love them to bits but they don't get the pet thing at all and think we are mad. OH who is in his forties didn't tell them about Stinky or the chickens for years! I think he may take out a super injunction against me to ensure I don't let on about the possibility of a new puppy
pips_pekins
Yep, couldn't come away without reserving one. They are just six weeks old so have arranged to go back at the start of May half term to bring her home They were all so cute so very difficult to decide which one we wanted so narrowed it down to two and let OH make final decision. Purplemaniacs
Oh how exciting. I remember when we went to see our two labs as little puppies and then went back to collect them. We picked Poppy in advance and the puppies were all identified by nail varnish. With Millie we were the first to pay the deposit (before she was born) so we had the first pick at 7 weeks when we brought her home, we had visited a couple of time before that but the owner said she found it difficult to identify the pups, all silver labs, so people collected pups in order of reservation and chose the one they wanted and took it home . Puppies are just adorable. Lookiing forward to seeing photos when you get her. Chrissie

The Dogmother
You'd never get away with it on the lurcher forum.... they love their photos. Is it just me, or does anyone else look at poopie photos and actually think you can smell their ears?
pips_pekins
*AHEM* I can't believe that you didn't take any photos........ Just got back from short break at the seaside. Sorry, no photos yet Too busy choosing from and fussing over 9 puppies They were all so cute. As I said before, I did narrow it down to 2 and then OH made final choice but this morning I overruled him so am waiting to hear from breeder if we can change to our other choice or if the other little girl is now reserved by someone else. So at the moment unsure which one will be Stinky mark II I promise loads of pictures once we get her home - please forgive me

The Dogmother
My Ruby (a lurcher) used to stress piddle when she was a puppy, she was fine after a couple of weeks though. Nowadays she gets the odd bit of post-spay incontinence but that's all sorted with Propalin.

Nowadays she gets the odd bit of post-spay incontinence but that's all sorted with Propalin. We used Propalin for ages but have switched to a similar and cheaper product that our vet has recently started to have. Seems to work as well as the Propalin though and she's not had any accidents for ages.
The Dogmother
I'd be interested to know what it's called pips_pekins; I'll see if we can get it as Propalin isn't cheap

pips_pekins
Been meaning to do an update for a while We picked up puppy about 6 weeks ago and she is now 31/2 months. She is much naughtier than Stinky was and also a lot braver. The two have yet to become friends but things are getting a bit easier.

She was terrible when we first brought her home. She is not so bad now as she has been told off a few times by our big girl for nipping her. She may be naughty but she is also quite smart for a spaniel
