patsylabrador
Went to the cinema yesterday to see the Star Trek film, which, btw was great. But when we left I was irritated, as I always am, by the disgusting mess people leave behind. They think nothing of just walking away. I just can't leave litter and mess like that. I know the area is always cleaned up between showings but that isn't a reason to leave my rubbish. Any public place I use, including loos, I try to think of the next person along and wish other people would do the same - but often they don't. Done moaning! Good Morning! The Dogmother
I feel your pain there... we went to see the same movie at the weekend and stayed behind to help a chap look for his car keys - we were also astonished at the amount of litter left lying around. Why don't they announce that a bin will be available on the way out for their litter?
Goosey Lucy
I'm with you on this too. I came across a programme last night on ITV called Dirty Britain. It was shocking.
Cinnamon
Why don't they announce that a bin will be available on the way out for their litter? They do in my local multiplex. There are 2 bins - one for food & one for recycling
The Dogmother
I'm afraid that we don't have anything grand here, no Multiplex or whatever, just the cinema.
Cinnamon
........................Thinking about it, even the teeny tiny cinema in Henley does an announcement & there is a staff member on the door with a bin bag for you to give your rubbish to. Maybe your local should be sent a letter - it would save them man power after all
Ain't Nobody Here
That's a pet hate of mine too . I see it in the high school I spend a little time in each week. There can be a bin beside them but they'll just drop their rubbish at their feet. It's also all up the stairs, in the corridors and in the playground. Cinnamon
Did anyone see Scott & Bailey a couple of weeks ago where one of the main characters was drinking a coffee in an alley way behind her work & threw her empty cup on the ground? Made both me & The Husband a bit cross!
Luvachicken
I hate rubbish like that too - especially on planes where people just chuck their stuff and it's even worse walking past the first class seats with the amount of mess they leave
Charlottechicken
It would never cross my mind to discard so much as a sweet wrapper. I take everything home with me. When OH and I go out, we use dog mess bags in the car for our litter and throw them in the bin when we get home. If we are on a long journey then we will avail ourselves of a bin along the way if possible, or just take it with us. There are litter bins everywhere now, not like years ago when the threat of them being blown up saw a lot removed, yet still people litter, drives me mad I remember in January last year (actually my birthday) I was woken by an awful din, it was a stormy night and my recycling box had been blown over, disgorging its contents all down the road, I was horrified to think of my (clean glass and metal) rubbish blowing around and dashed out with trackie bottoms and sweatshirt over my nightie to retrieve it all. I often litter pick when putting my rubbish out. Many neighbours are happy to watch their filth blow around the neighbourhood, I would hang my head in shame. Oh, and has anyone noticed the dog mess trees in the countryside now? You know, pick up your dog mess in a bag, tie it up, then chuck it into the nearest tree, where it hangs. Disgusting
The Dogmother
We have a car rubbish bag on trips too CC, although you'd not believe it when Rosie has been in the car I too tend to litter pick as I walk up our street, a lot of folks keep their wheelie bins at the front (which I hate) so I just pop it in the nearest one. chickencam
I agree, what is so hard about using a bin. I also pick up other people's litter, we live in a lovely country we should endeavour to keep it that way.
Lavenders_Blue
Oh don't get me started on poo bag baubles! That makes me so cross! Why go to the bother of picking up your dog's mess if you're then going to hang it in a tree where it will stay for the next 1000 years, or at least until some other kind person clears it up for you. Just carry it with you to the next bin! And if you find that unacceptably gross - get a Muksak. Simples!
Bramble
There's someone around here who puts their full poo bags behind the postbox - gross I'm sure there's only one person doing it, but it's getting pretty disgusting now - how can anyone think that's ok - there are plenty of bins to use, or as others have said, why not take it home? The Dogmother
Our local dog warden is hot on the heels of anyone doing that - he asks people to report 'offenders' giving a place and rough time they do it, then he hangs around and grabs them to issue a fine There was a local hostelry which used to let its Weimerraner loose around town, so it'd rampage around our park, bothering other dogs and poo-ing all over the place. The DW took it back countless time (it had neither collar nor ID) and issued warnings, it took the threat of a court appearance to put a stop to it. surfer_chicken
We always take our rubbish out with us, our local cinema has bins either sides of the door. However we did go to a different place last week and couldn't find a bin in the entire building They're not really helping themselves there. We ended up putting the rubbish in a street bin, but as people have said, an announcement and people with bin bags stood by the door would save a lot of their time (and presumably money). We get a lot of other people's littler in our front garden as we're just down from the newsagents. People buy snacks, eat them as they walk down the street and our house seems to be the perfect distance for when they've finished and drop the packets And I can't understand the point of picking up your dog poo if you're not going to put it in the bin. Surely they've done most of the effort/grossness already? Just finish the job! ...And don't get me started on cigarette ends
chuckmum6
I certainly would never drop rubbish and always take it home, however, I do think cinemas need to provide bins, so rubbish can be deposited on leaving a film, I have yet to visit on where there are any to put your stuff in. Blackrocksrock
I said excuse me you dropped your paper to a young maybe 16 year old lad outside tesco last week - If you need a bin its over there I carried on - he said oh sorry and picked it up - I just kept walking - think he was a bit embarrassed!! I have a friend who is a very very responsible dog owner but does do this...apparently in her case she does a circular walk and because the dogs seem to "perform" quite early on the walk and she knows where the bins are she picks up the poo bags on her way back (rather than carry them all round the circuit where there are no bins) and puts them in the bin on the way back..so knowing this when I see those bags I try to give the people the benefit of the doubt and assume they are coming back for them.....in fact where we are I think most people must do this because they don't multiply... Old Speckled Hen
Went to the cinema yesterday to see the Star Trek film when we left I was irritated, as I always am, by the disgusting mess people leave behind. No excuse I agree. BUT It's the crunching and rustling and slurping DURING the performance that REALLY annoys me!

People do that in the playing field in our village, which is fine, I can understand not wanting to carry the bag round with you if you can leave it by the exit and pick it up on the way out. However, there are a couple of walks round here that have no poo bins nearby (one is on a country estate so no bins at all - you just stick and flick off the path) and they are littered with poo bag baubles. I even saw someone once lob their bag into the hedge on this walk! Sadly she was quite a way ahead of me so I couldn't catch up to say anything
Ain't Nobody Here
I hate that too . It's worse than just leaving the poo on the ground . Why don't they stick and flick (or cover with soil and nudge with toe!). It's so easy if you don't happen to have a bag - but these people DO have a bag . The Dogmother
Bio-degradable poo bags are handy if you don't have a Muksak, or it's not a 'wild walk'.
Tiggy
I know exactly what you mean, hubby gets so embarrassed when we go out anywhere and I come back from the loo to tell staff in pub/restaurant/cinema that the loo is in a mess, drives me mad. How can people walk out and leave such disgusting mess for someone else to clean up! and as for just dropping food and drink wrappers on the floor, well dont get me started
