Minor irritations

AND they don't pay any road tax or insurance :evil::evil:

Road tax (vehicle excise duty) is based on your car's emissions, so bicycles (as well as many hybrid cars) are exempt. Roads and their upkeep are paid for by council tax. Also, most cyclists will have some form of insurance.

My little car doesn't pay road tax :D:D

People who over take you in a 30 or 40 mph village when you are doing the speed limit.

So, if a group of cyclists or single cause an accident are they the legally liable and insured? Don't get me wrong...I am not anti cyclist and we all have a right to cycle but the groups of lycra louts 'racing' on public roads can behave very badly and dangerously! I live in a village and do around 4 000 miles per year in my old Skoda and pay around five hundred pounds insurance and road tax to do so. Not sure what South Oxfordshire Council do with our Council Tax but it certainly does not go on road maintainance -local roads and lanes are lethal and getting worse (more irritations!)

Kissinuk, can we add folks who stick to the middle lane on motorways to that list?

Yes, definitely! Lost count of the number of middle-lane drivers I flashed on my way to North Devon last week, complely clueless to why I was flashing them driving down the middle lane of a half empty M5!

Glad it's not just me... when is that law coming in then?

Legally liable yes, insured, no. I think all road users (except pedestrians) should have some form of insurance.

As for road tax just renewed my new petrol Focus which has a hell of a lot of 'go' in her, cost me a massive £30!! It has 'start/stop' which really helps cut down emissions in their tests. Very happy.

But back on topic, yes, people who use mobiles while driving annoy the hell out of me too, sometimes I wish I drove an unmarked police car....

I just don't get the whole mobile phone and driving malarkey ?? There are lots of hands free options available, in my old car I bought myself and radio that had Bluetooth and hands free the call went through the radio speakers and had a microphone, hubby has a device that will transmit his calls also through the radio but that's for an IPhone and my new car has it all built in but having said that my signal isn't always great so I end up pulling over anyway

Humph.

What about all the extra exhaust fumes from us poor tax paying motorists who are stuck behind them all the time?

And they are just so..............smug

...................People who you are playing online Scrabble with who, when you have had a good run, accuse you of cheating

Really  ?

I know you beat me most of the time 'cos you're very good at it  . Cheating never even crossed my mind (and still hasn't, in case you're worried!)

Yeah - I play a lot with people I don't know, & have been accused of using 'help' once or twice.

I am not that good...I get regularly trounced, especially by another Omlet forum member

Companies that make me rant like a raving loon

Todays offerings being Asda Direct for sending me a generic txt that my order will be delivered in the afternoon, well I paid extra for morning delivery so was a bit miffed called customer services to be told that everyone get that txt !! Hmm how efficient and for us with young children in the words of the Fat Controller " you Asda Direct have caused confusion and delay "

Then Practical Boat Owner or IPC media who seem to blatantly ignore my telephone call telling them that my Uncle has passed away so I will not need to renew our subscription and still insists on sending me more letters to get me to renew and to top it off I receive it the day before what would have been his birthday

Another gripe is in the supermarket those who seemed shocked when all the shopping has been scanned and put slowly by themselves into the bags then have to pay, thus spending ages to find means of payment along with a million coupons, is it too much to ask that they are a little prepared have things like wallets and coupons easy to access ?? and by this im not meaning anyone elderly etc who does need some time someone like my own gran bless her I mean the general ditherers in life

I do think that on narrow country lanes that cyclists should ride single file and let other traffic past. But, in the cities (especially London) using a bicycle is the fastest way to get around.

The oikey car driver today who obviously gets a red mist when he sees motorbikes. For some reason known only to himself he charged down the slip road on the hard shoulder when we were joining the motorway and then pulled across into us forcing us into the ghost lane. We nearly were ghosts. It was incredibly dangerous. My husband showed him what he thought and I clocked his number but I really hope it was on camera. It was just a minor irritation because I'm alive to post this.

The other irritation (for today  ) is about keys.

We have a full set of spare house keys hanging out of sight near the back door.

We also have a smaller set of back door and garage keys hanging there. This is where they live. So why does everyone else feel it okay to take them, use them and then leave them by the front door. I spend too much of my time chasing round trying to find them while my almost dry washing gets soaked in a sudden downpour.

And breathe...
