yvonne
Always look forward to these (sad, I know) apart from the one a couple of years ago with a dog left outside in the snow - not sure what they were thinking that year ! This year's is a cartoon with music by Lily Allen and is now on the website - really quite lovely ( a bit like last year's snowmen). Even contained a few badgers - luckily no lurking marksmen ! Makes a change from the same old smartly dressed models going to parties that almost all the others seem to be these days. They have been quite clever and linked in toys, games and some free downloads.
Luvachicken
You beat me to it. I just watched it It's very sweet. I didn't want to wait until tomorrow .....
Cinnamon
I loved it - it made me go a bit watery, but then again they usually do! They always seem to get it just right if you ask me, but then again I am a bit biased The dog in the kennel didn't bother me one bit - all for visual & emotional effect (I could have done with out the hated Lily Allen singing this years song though. She is so lazy with her articulation of words when singing )

chuckmum6
Sweet, not my fav though I liked their last to more. There is a real increase in the quality of ads from big chains in recent years, some lovely creative ideas too.

Cinnamon
Maybe a male singer might have been better - Jake Bugg or Harry Connick might have made interesting choices.
Goosey Lucy
I liked it (but totally agree with the comment about Lily Allen's sloppy diction) but am obviously hormonal as I thought to myself 'If I was deep asleep in a snuggly warm cave and someone came and woke me up to go stand in the cold snow I'd give them a right earful'
redhotchick
I watched this over breakfast in a local pub this morning. It's a good job no one was sitting nearby as it made me tear up. Lovely advert. I like the Marks and Spencer Christmas advert as well. It is a lot more product specific than brand specific, but very whimsical with references to Alice in Wonderland as well as the Wizard of Oz. Perhaps other references that I didn't spot after one viewing. Also a very lovely advert
Cinnamon
It has David Gandy in it - that is enough for me to say I like it,a LOT!
merlina
I can't bear Lily Allen's singing at the best of times, and this is no better This may be the first time in my life when I agreed with a Telegraph columnist http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/christmas/10435882/John-Lewis-advert-song-2013-by-Lily-Allen-wrong-song-wrong-sound-wrong-singer.html
Cinnamon
I don't think it is the wrong song - I love the song & I love the arrangement, but I LOATH that woman singing it.
craftyhunnypie
Have seen the bear & the hare merchandise? I just love the hare! I love the advert & the song. It makes me tearful. Oh and the M&S advert is truly magical. Have you noticed how all the Xmas adverts are keeping you guessing what they are advertising until the final moment? I also like the Morrissons advert with Ant and Dec. Emma.x

Alis girls
The M&S one is very gothic and the Alice in Wonderland theme really good. Had to look up the dish at the table a male model called David Gandy. Wouldnt mind a magic carpet ride with him. Have yet to see John lewis one. chickencam
Saw both Debenhams one and M & S one during Homeland tonight. I thought Lilian Allen was great and the ad is sweet.
Egluntyne
I'm lukewarm about the John Lewis ad, and don't mind the Lily Allen song, although I see what others mean about her glottal stops. I have preferred their earlier ads, and remember the todo about the one with the dog. The M&S ad is beautiful.
Alis girls
The John Lewis one is like a cross btwn Animals of Farthing Wood and watership down. The singings ok - Lily has got better over the years. Still prefer M&S one.
