Rosalie
I'm about to change my girls to layers pellets can I have some recommendations please?
mullethunter
I know I'll probably get shouted at for this but mine just have the bog standard cheap ones from my local feed merchant. I have no complaints so far (2 months on them) and the girls don't seem to either. Before that I had a small expensive bag of Dodson and horrell - couldn't tell any difference. Alex_LJZ
I was using Bocm Pauls 'farm gate' layers pellets at £8 per 25kg. I decided to go Organic last month and upgraded to Alan Page pellets at twice the cost, but my hens seem to not like them so much and have a habit of emptying the feeder looking for something else. Also, the farmgate oned make great porridge which they love and the Alan and Page oned don't mush up so well. So, back to the farmgate for me I think. gavclojak
I have always used small holders range Natural Free Range Layers Pellets and the added bonus is for every bag sold they make a donation to BHWT
mollyripkim
I use Fancy Feeds pellets as they are sold as suitable for ducks, bantams and chickens.
jesschicken24
I use Farmgate too, it's about £15 including delivery for 20 kg. My chickens love it and they can be really fussy eaters.
Chickabee
I use marriages or Fancy Feeds. The latter are slightly smaller pellets
Redwing
You get what you pay for IMHO, same as human food really - I saw some cheap fish fingers the other day that were only 40% fish! Cheaper feeds are full of cheap fillers, the hens eat more and produce more poop A decent feed contains less rubbish and is utilised better by the hen I personally think that the best feeds available are Garvo and Matador but there are other decent ones out there. One of the ones mentioned here I wouldnt feed if it was the last feed on earth!

Grandmashazzie
I like the idea of less poop I know what you mean about fish fingers.I hate the way they have all sorts of other fish now, which Definately tastes different to cod or haddock. Chickabee
Yes GMShazzie, I only buy the cod fillet ones, so I don't really want to be eating eggs from hens that are eating things I don't know about. Also it would be great to have less poop
Dolly
Oh no, I use smallholder mentioned earlier, please can I ask if its this one, I only want the best for my girls too!
sjp
mine get Matador but I've used Garvo and Fancy Feed I did use the cheaper ones but I find they get eaten far to fast and I found that shell quality was poor plus the short shelf life was a concern for me to
