Human Vermin

Recommended Posts

Vandals broke into our allotment last night, ripping open the chicken shed door, damaging the electric fencing unit so that it wasn't working.

Luckily, they didn't take any of the chooks.

However, the RUDEWORDERS left the chooks wandering about, and my oldest home-hatched girl, Norman, was taken by a non-human predatorr from outside our allotment area boundary (outside the electric fence) . The pile of feathers indicates it wasn't human.

We're assuming that the creature that took poor Normy was used to the electric fence being on, so didn't actually attempt to enter the allotment. If it had, we'd have lost all of them.

I'm so angry at the mindless little RUDEWORDs that did this. They turned over lots of sheds, no one seems to have had anything taken. And my lovely little Normy has gone.

I am, of couse, concerned that they will be back - equipped to transport.

Thanks everyone.

I do appreciate that we've been really lucky, considering what could have happened.

It's just.... Norman.

She hatched under her mum 2 weeks after some other chooks hatched in our incubator. Her mum rejected her, and we thought she would die. We put her in with the other babies, and they were all enormous in comparison. She had no idea that she was tiny and young, she tried to do everything they did.

We were convinced she was a boy (she kept taking up a cockerel stance), right up to the day she laid an egg.

I am soooo sorry to hear that Hazel, I hope that the police manage to find the perps, and they get their karma back sevenfold.

I shall send a hex out on them tonight, and rev up the chainsaw  they should beware the wrath of Omleteers; never summon up anything you can't banish... we have powerful magic :D

Personally, I'd be tempted to lay in wait for their return and set the hounds on them.

So sorry to read this, poor Norman.

I hope that the saying "what goes around comes around" is true in this case and the nasty little beings that did this get what's coming to them - words just fail me sometimes. :|

Sleep tight little Norman x
