Olly
I wasn't going to bother this year, not feeling very Christmassy but then I thought I may as well. It's a small artificial tree which I can't remember buying, think it must be about 20 years old (the fairy on top is older than me). I like putting up the decorations, some of which were my mum's, but it makes me feel very nostalgic for Christmases past. Go on - show us yours! t
Blackrocksrock
Awe its lovely. I also have a lot of old baubles some glass that were my mum's. Your tree sits in that place nicely
Olly
It's actually my meter cupboard! It's the first time I have put the tree there, but it's at a good height and doesn't take up floor space.
Plum
Is that a fish hanging at the bottom Olly. I love all the old decorations
patsylabrador
I've deleted. I'll try again. Edited December 14, 2015 by Guest
Olly
Ooh that's interesting - the no tinsel, and wrapping the lights around the trunk. That's never even occurred to me. It's got a very Victorian look. My mum used to buy a new decoration every year and then when we left home, she'd buy us each something new. Now my sisters and I do the same. chickencam
Remembered how to do it but sorry it is huge, I now need to work our resizing with photo bucket app Terrible photo and our tree is always rather overdressed.
Olly
You can't overdress a Christmas tree! Is that a marzipanned cake I spy on the table?
chickencam
Yes, that one is now iced and sampled, the second one is on the list for icing today, if I get time. It takes two cakes to get this family through Christmas, Delia's and a new recipe each year, this year the buttered rum one from BBC Good Food Christmas magazine. Mercedes55
We have a real tree every year and I use the same decorations every year, so pretty boring, but this is ours
patsylabrador
Hopefully this will work. I've tidied up my photobucket and think I can post a slideshow imade this morning of some of my decorations. Fingers crossed that I've posted the right thing. If you click the picture the video should roll! Edited December 14, 2015 by Guest
Alis girls
Many years ago when I was little I noticed on my aunts tree 2 huge baubles and I mean huge. With the innocense of youth I announced "gosh what massive balls" - many sniggers were heard. A couple of years ago she gave me one for my tree - and said her tree was smaller and she knew I admired them. Admire wasnt quite the word I would've chosen but its on my tree. I have no idea where the other went. I love the old decorations - I covet a bell on my dads tree. Your trees are so lovely.

My mom has a few very old baubles from her mother. They are truly blown glass and coloured with actual silver.

Olly
Love the slideshow Patsy, I'm in awe of your skills and your decorations! Apart from the tree, I've just put up my nativity set. Not sure I'll bother with much else, I'm not expecting many visitors. Isn't it fascinating how different all our trees look. I'm definitely of the 'bung it all on' school of thought. Charlottechicken
I think I have the same snowflake decorations as gavclojak! I love all the trees on here, from the sp"Ooops, word censored!"ly decorated real tree to the fully loaded artificial one! They look fab and it just goes to show there's an infinate way of decorating a tree! I do decorate my artificial tree to look as if it is covered in snow and ice, all white, silver and pearlescent with white lights, as I love snow and ice. Might actually get to put it up this year, even though the lounge isn't finished so we are still using a spare bedroom as our lounge
mullethunter
to buy a new decoration every year and then when we left home, she'd buy us each something new. Now my sisters and I do the same. Snap Olly. And I'm also 'bung it all on'. I admire all of you who have smart, coordinated trees but that isn't me Tree / decorations won't go up until 21st because my sisters birthday is the 20th so we always waited until after that and I've stuck to the tradition.
