YS has an afternoon in the kitchens of Le Manior on a school cookery course this afternoon - I am looking forward to a shady stroll round their gardens when I collect him at 5.00pm. NOT looking forward to Governor's meeting this evening at 7.00pm - there's enough hot air generated there without the addition of meterological kind too

I have coped much better this year despite being peri menopausal. I have lost a stone and a half in the last year which has helped and I am a lot t fitter.

My Amazon purchases this week have been a paddling pool (ostensibly for my friend's little boy, but you know ...) and a mesh fly screen for the back door.

 

I've also just spent £49 to get the car's air-con 're-gassed' - worth every penny. I wanted to kiss the garage technician, it feels so fabulous to have it working again. It's probably just as well I'd already driven away by the time it really kicked in!

No breeze at all....try living in a caravan in that!

I am honestly on the brink of not being able to cope with the heat...I can't concentrate on anything & feel really unwell.

Thank God for the pool & our huge shade giving Lime tree.

D'you know what? Its that hot that, if someone put a huge bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk down in front of me, I don't think I could summon the energy to even unwrap it let alone eat it......

Horrible, horrible, horrible here all day. No breeze, no air - like being under a thick, wet blanket. Can't breath!

 

So happy that there is a severe weather warning for thunderous rain tomorrow between 6am and 1.00pm! Bring it on!

Car thingy says that it's 35deg; I love the heat, but this is a bit much. The dogs are on shorter, cooler walks at the moment; no racing around fields and woods and getting hot. We walk, then I rinse them under the hose to cool off.

At first I was wearing a jacket here in Windermere and it was raining a bit. We went on a lake cruise and I felt quite cold......I have never been so happy! Much nicer this afternoon but never too bad. Back to London tomorrow but I think it will be nicer there too. I feel like I wasn't much of a team player but there it is.

Between 7 and 8 this evening the mist / cloud came in and I reckon the temperature dropped 10 degrees. It's over I've put a jumper on.

I just got the AirCon in my car re-gassed. I now get to enjoy a blissful 5.5 degrees on a hot day! YAY!

We had a few rumbles and about 5 mins of sp"Ooops, word censored!" rain about 8.00am and that was it - talk about a non event However, it has been MUCH cooler today with a nice breeze but it has taken all day with the windows open to cool the house down. It seems to have absorbed all the heat over the past few days and acted like a storage heater!

It was just over 40 here yesterday - HORRIBLE!

10 degrees cooler today with light misty drizzle, which we sat in having our breakfast - it was bliss.

My memories of the Dordogne were it was VERY hot. We are heading to France and Switzerland in July I really hope it cools down as we are taking the dogs.
