Had our new fire place installed on Monday and lit our first fire last night.

Him Indoors, who is walking around in shirt sleeves has just decided to put the heating on!

 

When I'm cold he always declares that the house is like a furnace and that I should put a jumper on.

 

When he's cold though.........

 

I'll turn it off when he's dozed off.....it isn't October yet!

I bought my winter pair of Totes Toasties this week - it is now winter as far as I am concerned

We've had the underfloor heating on low for a couple of days now - I don't care what the calendar says!!

Isn't underfloor heating fab?

We have it in the bathroom & wish we had it all over the house.

it warms up those cold bathroom tiles a treat - & ours has been on for a couple of days now too

It was fitted in the house when it was built - I didn't think I would like it but I do.

 

The only room without it is the conservatory, and that it either boiling or freezing. When it heats up, I open the doors to the lounge and when it cools down, I close them, that saves on the heating. I love the warm bathrooms.

Is this good? Do you have the loose wire or the pads?

 

I was concidering this but im not sure????

 

Any tips would be fab!

 

 

I am also refusing to put the heating on too! I am freezing, but silly me is wearing a linen skirt and tee shirt.

Ours was done by the previous owners but it is a wet system - hot water pipes set in screed, connected to an LPG boiler.

 

We're looking at an electric system to install in the conservatory.

I dug out and cleaned my winter boots today.

 

The heating will not go on until between the 16th and 19th Nov (sons bday and dh bday). Then it goes off between dd and my bday in Mar/apr. It is also when I start hanging the washing indoors, and in the spring hangin it out again!!

Me too - I'm only 5ft tall so I look a lot like a mini michelin man in the winter - I'm much slimmer in the warmer months

 

Never mind - soon it will be Christmas and we will (hopefully) be in our new home (third time lucky )

Can't wait to be there - massive garden - will be able to add chickens and maybe a dog to the menagerie (2 rabbits, 1 cat, 2 sons, 1 hubby).

When i left the house at 04.30 this morning my car said 3.5 degrees!!!!!

(well it didn't say it because its a car and can't talk, but the temp gauge showed it)

 

I ran back in the house and got my driving fleece (how sad am i)?? and a mug of tea for the drive.

 

The fire is now roaring!!! Lovely!

This morning we had misty rain. It was supposed to brighten up this afternoon.

It is still very dark out there, and we are still having showers.

I think the 2 may have even put themselves to bed, I hve seen them since 1!!

The house was freezing this morning when I got up at 4.15am. The heating does not come on until 6am. We have been putting the heating on for weeks

 

OH's car was registering 0oc when I took him into work this morning. It managed 3oc later when I was driving to work.

 

Winter duvet is back on the bed along with fleecey bed socks and cosy PJ's

Gosh Ali, that IS cold!

 

I am struggling on in the summer duvet until Monday when I change the beds. DH, who takes years to notice any changes, is still throwing open the windows as soon as he gets in so that the bedroom doesn't get warm and stuffy.

 

So I surreptitiously close them again and curl up with my hot water bottles and bed socks.

I went shopping this morning, too wet & miserable to work in the garden, and since I was freezing indoors I thought that I'd take full advantage of Bluewater's heating Quite comfortably warm it was there

But when I came out at 2pm it looked like a winter's eveing, very, very grey and dusky, as well as tipping it down. It felt like November .

 

I'm another who's resisting putting the heating on, but I don't think I'm likely to be holding out for too much longer, I do like being warm

I am a cold person, my husband is a hot person, so we always have arguments about whether the heater is turned up etc.

(we got to 43 and the no. online is now going down )

We always leave the thermostat at 18C and Wednesday night we even lit the fire in the living room!! but we have to think of Molly in the day when we're at work and her arthritic hips and at least the house is warm when I get in

 

I can't do cold - EVER - but we do have a summer duvet on the bed all year, the memory foam mattress gets very warm - lovely and cosy

Same as us - we invested in a memory foam mattress a couple of months ago & it is quite wonderful

In fact it gets so cosy that we have a cooling mattress protector over it,which works really well, & makes it even more comfy too
