craftyhunnypie Posted December 13, 2007 Share Posted December 13, 2007 Just to let you all know - Rita, one of my original Omlet gingernuts died about 1 o ' clock this afternoon. As you know, she wasn't too good the other week, but we nursed her back to full health in our kitchen & she was a cheeky litle thing again afterwards. But this morning, she wouldn't come out of the nest, so hubby lifted her down & into the run. She later went off her legs & rolled on her side, with her mate Blanche ' the pepperpot ' looking over her. We brought her in & put her infront of the heater in a tub trug of straw . I stroked & kissed her goodbye, before her breathing went so shallow & her heart stopped. Rest in Peace Rita - you brought us so much joy! 17th June 2006 - 13th Deecember 2007. Would someone be so kind as to put her chookie heaven date in my signature please? The 2 remaining Omlet chooks look so lost in their big big cube & I keep going to them & they look so sad! Given them lots of cuddles & lots of extra bedding in the nest tonight. I am so upset, but I have lovely memories & photos of her! Going to look through my gallery of when she first arrived with us! I have tears rolling down my face & have just shut Rolo, Bounty & Smartie in as they'd all gone bed. The 2 oldies - Blanche & Audrey are still pecking around the cube run - I've been out talking to them (mad woman). I have only just shut the other 2 Omlet chooks in as they have only just settled. I have peeped in through the cube eggport & they are all edgy - like who's that, what's going on? Poor loves! I hope they will be better tomorrow! Candle party - I struggled through, but have enjoyed - as I got £83.61 commission to spend on candles & candle holders etc!!!! It was 25% commission, so my friends must have spent a fortune! I've had some lovely things & a centrepiece for my Christmas table. I've had some nibbles, a lot of wine & enjoyed some good comforting company! So I do actually feel better! Also, the best bit is - Partylites 2008 catalogue, which I have been given a copy of, has lots of chickeny cvandle holders in!!!! Night night all - here's hoping tomorrow will be a lot better than today, but thanks to all my Omlet friends for being so caring!
