Who Lives In a House Like This?

Recommended Posts

June 1st then - that's when little Ollie was born!

We sold our house and moved all our furniture in on July 18th.

I'm in the process of painting all the woodwork to white from the orangey/brown as it is so dark with all the wood floors as well - and I will finish tiling over the existing tiles in the kitchen...... soon

It's one of the Dulux mixed ones - I can't remember its name though  - Snowy might tell you!

I do know though.... that the best place to buy the paint is Jewsons as they mix all the colours - just the same as B&Q/Homebase etc. but they use trade paint which covers better :D I always buy trade paint.

Wow Lesley- your house is beautiful.

.....And I believed all the Omleteers on here who said they never dust or hoover often

It made me feel better about my slovenly house work, but you were all telling porkies to me

My house is sooo tiny it can be cleaned all thruogh in a couple of hours. That's why we don't have any cluttter- we have just no room for it!

Well now you are all on the messy house thread, I will sneak some pics of my place on here:

This is where I go on the forum, the stool was rescued from the local tip, given a stencil and varnish. I made the curtains, and the stone plinth on the left that has a speaker on it is one of a pair I made from an industrial cardboard tube :D

This is my bathroom, the bath end, I did the tiling myself, and made the curtains, the chair needs a few more coats of paint, and my blow up seagull is just out of shot. The cushion on the chair has a shoal of fish on it. The wallpaper was a pound a roll :D

and the loo end. I made the cabinet out of some leftover old tongue and groove. The old laundry basket needs another coat of paint too!

the bed end of the bedroom, I have a chaise at the bottom of the bed, and the room has two front windows, it is nice and big. The 'comforter' was £2.50 from a car boot sale and is feather, it was washed several times

Sorry, I appear to have Lesleys camera shake

Claire what a gorgeous house! It's lovely to see a house where such care and attention to detail has been taken, rather than everything bought ready done. It's the handmade touches that really make it! I love it! 8)

In our old house I did much more refurbishing than I've done with this one. Our bathroom was stencilled and when you sat on the loo and shut the door, there was a little mousehole painted on the skirting behind the door with a mouse peeping out! Kids loved it :D

I love the cabinet you made claire - you are very handy! :D

Lesley - your house is nothing what i expected for a farmhouse  its very pristine. me and hubby have seen a few farmhouses in our time and I was expecting 70's style big patterned wallpaper, stacks of newspapers, animals in the kitchen etc etc :wink: not a cow pat in sight!!!:lol: lovely. :D

It is an homage to 'cheap':lol:

I forgot to mention the dark scatter cushions on the bed are a jumper that I bought for 50p in a charity shop  I can't help being thrifty sometimes

Snowy the mousehole on the skirting sounds lovely :D

I know how you feel Maria - it took us 15 months to sell our house :? - and that was after we'd moved in to the farm! Good Luck - Jan will see a change as people recover from Christmas and New Year.

Chelsea - our house was new build and the previous owners had only lived in it for 3 months (thankfully  ) They had lived in a caravan on this plot for 20 years and it took them 18 years to get planning permission. The utility room floor is always covered in straw and hay though!

Whoever borrowed my camera shake can keep it  - although it does come in handy for disguising all the book titles in an office - thereby providing fewer clues!

Claire, your house is lovely - I love to see all the rescued items with a new lease of life 8)

Our bedside tables came from France - we arrived at our gite and they had the village fair, so we went straight out to have a look. One of the first stalls we came to before the fair proper was selling bric-a-brac............ and I loaded Carl up with two tables for 30 Euros!!!!!!

That sounds like a bit of a tale to me..why would you live in a van for 18 years waiting to build your home and then when you finally do only live in it for 3 months

:?

sorry just curious

No point putting this in the messy house thread - you'd guess me, and anyway I have tidied it up now  But here is my kitchen - I moan about it because I don't have a utility room and all the mud gets walked straight in through the back door. But it is a lovely size. And it's a bit of a hotch potch of designs as it's evolved over the years!

The tidy end:

The utility (messy) end:

The bit in between, opposite the window, and my huge fridge and freezer:

Have a good rummage, but tidy up after yourselves - that is the new year rule in here! 8)
