bronze
Christian thats lovely charlottechciken- we moved out just over 3 years ago but only sold it this year. If we won the lottery I would buy it back. It had amazing memories for me as well as being a lovely wee cottage. Yours sounds like hard work. One day we may do something decent to ours but while the children are small and destructive it doesnt seem worth spending what little money we have. Just have to have a s"Ooops, word censored!"y hen house instead
Mrs Frugal
Christian! It's a beautiful house ! Lucky, lucky you!
Charlottechicken
That's an awful lot of teacups, I'd have made good use of those hooks! Lovely to see a house so well restored, I saw the pic in Christmas trees. They made houses to last in 1896 didn't they? Glad it's in good hands now. The cup hooks worth keeping have been put to use in the garden and the shed some were enamelled ones, obviously oldish, say 1950's, and most were damaged or rusty on removal from the walls. When I redesigned the garden I uncovered all the old blue bricks from the back yard and have used them to recreate a blue brick Victorian front path (which I laid myself ) with the addition of some modern rope edging. In the front and back porches I laid old Victorian roof slates as flooring, and the front wall was redone a few years ago (by professionals, my bricklaying isn't very good) using salvaged Victorian bricks being thrown away by a local businessman, who let me have them for free! Thank you for noticing the room! It is an homage to cheap paint, paper and fabric!
Egluntyne
Bron that photo would make a wonderful Christmas card.......maybe for next year. Christian, your house looks beautiful too.....I love the Woodentops door as well!

Ours is two years old now, & wrecked So is ours Jules We bought it when oldest son was 9 and no further children on the horizon. (and I wanted a chocolate brown one, OH insisted he wanted cream ). It's filthy and falling apart. On the plus side, I've just realised it's 7 years old! I keep thinkng it's new still! In that case I suppose it's wearing quite well
Lesley
Lovely houses - and I'm hoping to change our back door to a stable door like Christian's. You've certainly had your work cut out Claire! Here's our porch...... the door was........ orangey brown I have since moved the paint pots - and the green men plaques on the porch floor are now on the walls! Karen & co.
The photos of all your houses are lovely it adds another dimension to knowing everyone on here or does that sound silly We have lots of photos from when we moved in and the place was decorated in very modern patterns and boarders everywhere but the owners had removed picture rails and replaced the coal fire with a nasty modern gas one, totally out of type for the house age. They had put huge dark wood beams into the kitchen and lowered the ceiling by 2 feet when we took them down we discovered that all the plumbing and wiring for the bathrooms upstairs was between the original ceiling, and the fake one Why do some people think it's OK to bodge a job The back of the house now looks very different since the extension, and feels like it should have always been like this I could make a new years resolution and learn how to post photos karen x

I consider myself told trouble is there will be so many after 2 years you'll all fall asleep before the end I like the front door colour too Lesley, we have something similar in the garden room, I think it's a period colour called box tree karen x

Christian
Ok here goes! My house! The kitchen Still looking for a plate rack for that wall!! The Office The Guest room (please ignore the hideous blue carpet upstairs) The Lounge Our bedroom is still a mess since Christmas! Its a dumping ground at the mo! lets see what you can all spot!! How many chickens??
Egluntyne
Wow! Beeyootifull!!
bronze
The inside isn't photo worthy yet! I quote I can't believe you've said that. Even the 'hideous blue carpet' is nicer than our non-fitted fitted hideous blue carpet with stains. I would swap in an instant it looks lovely. As for your bedroom it cant be worse than ours which is also a dumping ground but is also plasterless and has been for over a year now. Mrs Frugal
Ooooh Christian ! That's lovely . Very neat and tidy too and I'm just a tiny bit (BIG, BIG, BIG!) envious of your fireplace and big oven .

Guest
There is not a snowballs chance in hell of you lot getting to see the inside of my house, unless the nesting instinct kicks in whilst this thread is still active!!
Ain't Nobody Here
There's no way you're getting inside my house either but I have been eyeing up some of the views on my dog walks near the house . You may get the view from my bedroom if there's a nice sunny day soon .
Guest
That's a good idea - here's the view from my livingroom, on a slightly misty morning..
Charlottechicken
What a lovely view Shona I can see nothing but the terraced houses over the road out of the front of my house, and my own garden, with neighbours new large extension, out of the back. Upstairs at the front I can just see an electricity pylon and mobile phone mast over the rooftops, and out the back lots of rooftops and a railway line, which is slightly interesting
Paola
Wow, lovely view Shona Love the houses guys Mine is a boring 2.5 year old new build with no character at all So I prob will not be posting any pics Rhapsody's house sounds very interesting
Mrs Frugal
That's a fabulous view Shona. I look out onto other houses and the school playing field (just about if I peer round the garage opposite). The back garden is worse - houses all around us. We've got the most beautiful view over a pretty valley at the end of the road but we have to leave the house and walk for a bit to see it. Very envious of those of you who don't need to leave home to see something lovely .
