clucky1
I have just barracaded myself into my study...................... My 8 yr old has friends round and they have all turned into she-devils.Playing loud music - shouting - slamming doors -tormenting the dog! - Oh and I just heard a smashing sound, not sure what that was. Girls can be so evil. My 4 yr old has just taken cover with me. I think we will just stay in this very little room for the rest of the evening. My 4 year old has even gone and got us some cushions. PLEASE someone tell me that daughters get easier.

little chickadee
I'm in exactly the same boat as you, so I can't comment! My husband has been sitting in the living room, discussing sound proofing options!
The Dogmother
I allow a certain level of noise, but have to be considerate as we live in an end of terrace house. I have had to read the riot act on a few occasions.
clucky1
The smash was a drinking glass going over. I have just read them the riot act. They all looked pitiful - for about a second. I only have an hour to go (seconds/mins and counting) when I can pack them all off to brownies !

clucky1
UPDATE: I have made it OUT of the study. My husband has despatched 'she-devils' to Brownies - where they metamorphosisd into angelic like creatures when greeted by 'brown owl' The potty (thanks for idea) wasn't required - I made it out just in time. I am now drinking my way through a rather good 'merlot' The only problem NOW: Is that my 4 year old won't come out of the study as she says it is 'her camp' and she wants to sleep in there for the night ! THE JOYS of Motherhood !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cinnamon
It was Cleos birthday party last night,so I had 2 extra teenagers over for a sleepover. I was dreading it , & in fact after a total disaster sleepover a couple of years ago I did say never again, but they have been so good Poor Cleo - I had booked them all in for manicures as her party treat, but we got there & the place had shut down She was so upset, so they went to Pizza Express by themselves for a meal - very grown up! I think they had a lovely time too, with the staff treating them like adults. The eldest is 15 next month, but she is easy - just taking 2 mates to a gig in town (Scouting for Girls,I think) To be honest, the eldest can be a stroppy nightmare when she wants, & sometimes the hormone level in this house is just terrible, but I am hoping that as they get older things will get better. Please someone tell me that is true
Snowy
I think they probably get better when they've left home
The Dogmother
I think they probably get better when they've left home As a friend of mine says, get them jobs, see them off in the morning, then change the locks!
Snowy
I think boys can be just as bad as girls as well. My two have just had a telling off. They were up at 3.30! Because someone foolishly told them that we were going to Grandads today Did manage to get them both back to sleep, but then it was time for OH to go to work They've spent two hours before school wrestling, screaming, nipping, shoving, chasing, bawling and generally making me wish I had a study that I could lock myself in for the rest of the day, if not the week. Oh yes, and at 3.30 it was Dan who woke first, crying and yelling that the tooth fairy hadn't been and taken his tooth Naughty tooth fairy. I had to explain that she hadn't been yet and he needed to go back to sleep. Tooth fairy then had to lie awake until he'd fallen asleep again (in our bed). Once the deed was done, went to go back to bed, only to find that while I'd been hunting for money downstairs, Matthew had also got into our bed. So I spent the next hour in the toddler bed. Anyone got any matchsticks for my eyes??
The Dogmother
You poor thing Snowy. Still, at least they;re off to school now *phew*
clucky1
Toddler bed - oh dear . I suppose at least it wasn't bunk beds ! When we have these 'darlings' they never come with 'instructions, a refund ticket or well anything. Friends are NEVER honest. My little one DIDN'T sleep in the study. I managed to coax her out. She seemed a bit alarmed and just came out of study of her own accord - probably something to do with the fact that her mummy had now turned into a drunken 'She-Devil'! Little darling is at nursery this morning. The older one is at school. I am listening to Kate Rusby on my ipod and all is very well.
Snowy
Same here Clucky1! One at school, one just gone to nursery. Two hours of peace ahead! (And I'll be missing them after 10 minutes )

crazygal
you guys are obviously not on half term then like we are here... just come back from a blowy walk and a big play in the garden (to get them fresh air and exercise- in other words- tire them out!!). bronze
Its amazing how quickly that time goes and things turn to chaos again. I've just picked ds2 from playgroup it will now be middling quiet until ds1 comes back from school then its all riot until bedtime when dd kicks off and doesnt sleep for yet another night. Rhapsody
Dont ever play Bed Roulette with your children. It will only lead to years of sleepless nights Can I put in a good word for teenagers here? I loathed my sons when they were tiny and slimy and constantly miserable, now they are grown up and articulate and wipe their own noses and bottoms and have a sense of humour we get on great.
