ali-s
My copy arrived yesterday along with the book The magazine is very good and I am glad I went for the years subscription. I was up at 6.30 am this morning to carry on reading it Susan, I received issue 1 (April). Its not often I get a magazine from the beginning. The next issue is out on the 4th of April. I have entered the competition to win an Eglu The book looks as though it will be interesting as well
ubereglu
I saw this magazine in Mole Valley yesterday when we went to buy some corn for the chickens, wish I'd picked it up now. Kind of just as well I didn't buy it though as otherwise I wouldn't have had enough money to buy three balls of Rowan little big wool in order for me to make a cushion for my sister's birthday present!!! Mind you that wool was a bargain at £1.95 a ball!!!
Charlottechicken
I bought the April issue today in WH Smiths, after purchasing one copy online from them yesterday So, I emailed the subscription lady, Ruth, and asked if the copy could be for May, and it will be, they are very nice! Ruth also said that this magazine will not be available in supermarkets or independant newsagents, (unless they have an interest I suppose) only WH Smith to start with, as the amount of copies they are producing is small, and supermarkets want "telephone number sales" as she put it. BeckyBoo
I've just taken out my years subscription, does that mean I've missed out on th ebook, or if I e mail or ring them do you think I might still get it? Mrs Bertie
Beki
Email them straight away with your details and ask them if they can start your subscription from issue 1. I did this after i subscribed (think i subscribed on saturday night or sunday). She replied promptly and said that anyone who subscribed now, would be starting from issue 2, unless they email/phone to request it be started from issue 1, as the next issue is obviously issue 2. She was very happy to start it from number 1 for me though, and thanked me for my email. Got both the book and the mag in the post today, and i can thoroughly recommend it! Fab fab fab

Janty
I couldn't get hold of a copy from Smiths so my local newsagent e-mailed Home Farmer and he got my copy in on Thursday.

Charlottechicken
Ditto, nor Tesco, nor my local newsagent. When I emailed Ruth she told me the only place it is being sold is in WH Smith, as they sell every magazine without worrying about circulation figures, and apparantly, they have had it for ages as it was on trial. The supermarkets won't stock it unless it has a large circulation, and independant newsagents won't have it unless it is ordered.
Egluntyne
That would explain it!
Charlottechicken
Actually, I've just re-read the email and Ruth says it will only be in Smiths for three months, then they will make a decision based on how many copies have been sold so don't bank on being able to pick it up off the shelves. Probably best to subscribe to it, or order off your local newsagent, although round here Smiths control what the newsagents get and managed to mess up my Practical Poultry order (sent poor newsagent Country Kitchen then told him he had received two copies of Practical Poultry, I had to dash into town to buy P P from Smiths )
redbug
You can also get it from large garden centres. Thats were I got my copy from.

Barbara
For those of you who are having problems getting copies of Home Farmer magazine, I've been contacted by Ruth, the publisher, with information which might help. The magazine is not on sale in supermarkets because they demand a huge payment from this small publishing company for the magazine to sit on the shelves for one week! You can find the magazine available for sale in W H Smiths for the first 3 months and they will restock where it is selling well. All independent newsagents can get copies if you ask them to and some are already stocking it. Independent newsagents really need your support so if you can order it through them, do. Also some garden centres (Dobies, Wyvale etc). are stocking it now. Finally if anyone has a problem getting Home Farmer, Ruth would love to know so you can email her at ruth@thegoodlifepress.co.uk She still has a few copies of the first issue (April's) left and these can be ordered online or by phone. Blackrocksrock
They are very efficient - I ordered the 1st one as a sample and then decided to order a years subscription and e-mailed to see if I could get the book for the years subs and she e-mailed me to-day to say yes no bother and thanking me for my support. They seem very nice and I look forward to 12 issues.
craftyhunnypie
Hi - I bought my copy of Home Farmer at WHSmiths n Telford on Saturday. It's brilliant & I think it will be another magazine subscription that I'm just going to have to get! So hands up who's made the butter yet? Going to give that a go tomorrow! Some nice recipes & real good reading in it - well worth the money!!! Emma.x
chickencam
Hubby got this from our local wh smith on Thursday and I have spent the weekend reading my way through it and I haven't finished yet. The articles are really good and full of useful info, the one on soil was great for the first time I have read something that explains the nutrients in soil in a way that I can understand. Some of the best ways of improving your soil via the compost heap are with wood ash and chook poo both of which we have in abundance
