Snowy
I came across this today - a fantastic way of recycling old button front shirts into childrens clothes! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=170402.0 It looks a lot to take in, but once you've got the idea, anyone with a basic sewing skill could make these! bronze
Does anyones local college still do evening classes. I really want to do dressmaking but can't find it anywhere. Seems I have to know how to use the internet these days which of course I can't at all. grrr
Keanie Bean
I was just about to charity shop a whole load of mens shirts, but having seen this I have saved them. My daughter doesnt have a single summer dress at the moment so last night I dug out 4 of the nicest shirts to pick apart. It took me all night to carefully pick apart just one, but I know its going to look really pretty, so I will persevere and post pics when I'm done. Egluntyne
My mother used to make my Dad's old shirts into nighties for us. I spotted the Crocs too.
Jules.
Please accept my apologies for hijacking this thread with the word crocs
chickencam
What a great idea, shame my girls are too old now. I don't think it is what the average 14 year old is wearing this season But we could start a trend I wonder if she is up for it
Keanie Bean
Here is Emily in my attempt at the shirt dress. She really likes it and it will save me having to shell out on a new summer wardrobe for her. I've got another 4 or 5 shirts to make dresses out of now. My sewing machine will be overheating Sarah.x

The Dogmother
Well done, that looks lovely. My grandma used to turn my Nonno's old shirts into dresses when he wore out the collars and cuffs. We had beautiful cotton shirts with smocking acros the yokes. No Crocs in those days though Does anyone else think that Crocs are just perfect on little chubby feet? Just like that and she makes one!I want to be good at something Bron, I'll be very happy if my daughters turn out to be half as capable as you, you're good at loads of things! Keanie, the pic is great. Snowy, this is such an interesting topic but I nearly missed it as sewing is my worst nightmare so I rarely venture into the craft section of the forum. Luckily the word Crocs in the title attracted me to it....

I love it... also looks like I could give it a go, even though I'm not so experienced with sewing... would be great way to try and learn, while not worrying about the cost of fabric!!! It looks just brilliant... is there anything this forum doesn't have great ideas for??? (oh.... I too noticed the crocs...)
