Chicken on a mission
Tamsin I can't wait unti the 5th of August I've put it on my Outlook so I don't forget it Shall I pm you nearer the time? Bring a picnic? What time?
Sheilaz
But, I don't know how Lesley & I will manage to be in all the photos now! So, Tamsin's is definite for August 5th, & we'll keep a thread going for that one. The venue nearer Bournemouth, still another possibility, COAM? Any dates you'd favour, Mel? Anyone else from further west? If at least 2 people are interested, we can start a new topic for this. COAM, I think you'll be taking a Grand Tour at this rate! Looking forward to meeting you at one or another, although I'm not definite on dates yet.
Chicken on a mission
The trouble is that the regulars can't make it to one so if I try and get to as many as possible then I should be able to meet most people Tamsin's confirmed as 5th Aug

One Man Banned
when I have settled in with my chickens perhaps I can suggest a gathering for those in/near the southwest. A good place to meet up being the Wildlife and Wetlands Centre in Slimbridge near Gloucester with walks along the Cotswold Way - trips into Bath, Cheltenham or pretty cotswold villages?? your thoughts people??? Hellcat
Can't do Tamsins, as we will be in Sunny?? Wales. I'm up for a south/south west meet. How about Wilton House? Got a great garden there. Or on the point at Portland (I'll be the one at the bottom of the lighthouse).
Louise
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo please don't do Portland I will be soooooooooo jealous I used to live there anmd miss it so much
Sheilaz
Portland is way south for many, isn't it? But if Helen, COAM & others in that direction can agree on somewhere, that's great too. OK, after Tamsin's, it's Luton Airport. What date, Louise? I liked Andrew's suggestion too for the future. At this rate, there'll be one somewhere every week. All in the south! Hellcat
What about wiltshire somewhere? Does that help? Or, for the cornwallians, devonians and somersetians (and Dorset too if you like Mel) we can find somewhere SW.

Mrs Blue Sky
Westonbirt Arboretum is wonderful - haven't been there for years though since I lived in Bristol so can't remember if there's facilities/tuck shops or not.
The Dogmother
We went there last year and I remember cafes etc, it is lovely.

The Managing Director
Westonbirt Arboretum is wonderful - haven't been there for years though since I lived in Bristol so can't remember if there's facilities/tuck shops or not. Westonbirt has a new cafe and we were there earier this year and it is lovely, it also allows dogs in some areas which is always a plus here is a link to their website http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-5y4jbs
Hellcat
I'd love to take this on but just can't at the moment so someone else needs to pick it up and run with it. Have a great time at Tamsins, though! I'll be thinking of you (but not too much as I go to the little fishing shack and buy my sea bass, caught that morning, and stick it in the oven..., or the lovely Spider crabs, or the mackeral....) red
For those who are further West with not much time for longer trip maybe we could have a separate meet at the Devon Traditional Breeds Centre at Crediton - they have just opened a cafe and we could spend time checking out all their wonderful birds
AnnieP
Or the Donkey sanctuary in Sidmouth
One Man Banned
Well after chatting to Joe I am allowed to do some sort of organising for a South West get together. The Westonbirt idea is a good un. Perhaps as a forum we could set up regional groups too to arrange meets and get togethers and cross into other regions so that we all mingle in person?? Ooh it's what I imagine the WI to be like - where's me knitting
