Cate in NZ
Mine's easy, Kate's my name and I'm currently living in New Zealand I did have another user name until recently, but it was a chosen in a rush one that I never really liked and took the opportunity to change my name when I changed location....I'm much happier as Kate in NZ
Lovemychooks
Liked the word Eglantine. It occurred to me that I could be ever so clever and have the word Eglu incorporated into the name so became Egluntine, although lots of people call me Eglu-tine. I wish I'd spelled it Egluntyne now though, as in my head I pronounce the last syllable Tyne and not Teen. To late now. I had always seen your name as Eglutine (pronounced Egluteen), I didn't seen the N in your name I had just got my first lot of ex-batts and loved them and so I chose Love My Chooks !!! I did think about Dawn the Prawn (a nickname from my younger years - although I am still called it sometimes !) but decided against it ! Olly
I know it and love it, ANH but then I'm a big Louis Jordan fan .... I think I'm almost exactly the same age as you, but it was actually a younger friend who introduced me to Louis Jordan.
keyhole kate
Keyhole Kate for those who are too young to know was/is? a charachter from the Dandy Comics and was like penguinmad's my CB name many moons ago in my pre children days and so has no connection to my real name at all
Redwing
I chose Redwing as I had two bantams when I was a child called Redwing and Scrawny and unfortunately I am far from Scrawny! I also have red hair and my husband calls me Red so it seemed to fit well too. Funnily enough when I was driving home earlier I was wondering where 'Egluntine' originated from! (and I always hear it in my head as 'tyne') Some of the names on the forum are great I especially like 'Kitchens' the origin of that name was really sweet. Gamebird
ANH Said: I wonder occasionally if someone doesn't know where "Ain't "Ooops, word censored!"ody Here" comes from . Is it only a certain generation that would know the song or is it universally known?I must be of that certain generation because I instantly knew where it came from and I find myself singing the song when I see your posts Anyway, I chose Gamebird because all the chickeny themes I thought of had been taken but as we have lots of pheasants visiting our garden and coupled with the fact that in my youth I used to be a bit mad and if anything daft was suggested I would say "I game". Pathetic I know but you did ask

SamSandwich
SamSandwich is a pun made by one of my friends once... She said to me: 'SAM sandwich! Instead of HAM Sandwich!' The name stuck, I use it all the time and I'm known over the web as that
Lesley
I'm afraid I pronounce Egluntine as 'teen'........and then, when we do meet up, I can't remember your real name I joined in the early days - and I didn't even know what a forum was - I never even thought of using anything but my name....and it certainly helps with those senior moments - it's the only way I know my name some days I did actually start off as Lesley&Carl but Carl said he didn't want to be associated with any of my ramblings The avatar I chose because I like the colours! - and it is a plump bird dressed in pink and purple! (although it came out more blue)
Guest
The avatar happened by accident. We were on one of our shopping outings and on the way back from Bluewater we stopped off at Lakeside. It was easter and in the middle they were doing stuff with kids doing team games. James went to join in and the teams were dressed as chicks or rabbits. It was hard getting him to give back the chick suit!
ChirpyChirpyCheepCheep
Good Morning everyone. . . My name is taken from a line in a song by a group in the 70’s called ‘Middle of the Road”. I believe the song was actually called Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep.
Snowy
I found my avatar whilst searching for a festive owl picture to use at Christmas. It's a painting by a norwegian artist. I added a holly sprig for Christmas, but liked it so much I kept the original after christmas.

AnnieP
My name is fairly self explanatory, like Lesley and a few others, joined this forum before I realised what forums were all about and just used my name. The avatar I found by chance on the internet. It still makes me laugh every time I watch it.... I must be very simple minded! Its funny how we recognise people from their avatars. I hate it when people change them!

Mrs Frugal
I'm just me on this forum because I was the first of many Kate's to register. The avatar came along when I started as site admin. First of all I used to wave my magic wand to do things on here then people started talking about my "super powers". From there we used to joke about me putting my superhero outfit on with my underpants over my tights, Superman style hence the pants in the avatar and "SuperKate" was born (or SuperPants as some prefer ). jlo
Gosh, this thread has certainly been popular. Thought I would join in too... My initial is J and my surname sounds like the rest of my name. All my colleagues at work refer to me as J-Lo (not sure if it is because I have the same size butt?? ) I have loved Dangermouse since schooldays but Penfold was my favourite character and I couldn't resist this little Avatar. Quite boring but it works for me. Fascinating to read all the other explanations though. I am in the Egluteen camp I am afraid - sorry! Also have to fess up that, although I love the song, "Ain't "Ooops, word censored!"ody here..." and have done since going to see Five Guys named Moe a few years ago, the connection just didn't click!
