alih
a very dull subject I know but I was looking at them today in Wyevale, as I see on this forum that so many of you use them to clean with. I saw a friend's cube recently which had been power washed and it looked new! Any tips as to what you should fork out for and not? There were 2 I looked at - 1 at about £50, 1 at £150, but I couldn't really tell the difference except that one was bigger... any helpful hints welcome, as always
Milly
We got a Karcher earlier in the year and it's both effective and simple to use. There are lots of models and prices in the range, (several recommended by Which). Ours was £70-something from Argos. I think it was probably the K2.5MR. I was a bit worried that they might use a lot of water, but read they actually use less than a normal hose because the high pressure gives the cleaning power with less water consumption. jackiepoppies
Do you wan't to buy a 'name'? ' Cos if you're not bothered about that, then go for a cheapie! They all connect to the electric, they all pump water through at [generally] enough pressure to shift what you want to shift and if it does'nt do the job it says it will ...you can take it back! Remember everything has a guarantee, and that if it is not 'fit for purpose' you will be entitled to a refund. Mine was a supermarket 'special offer', along with my wet/dry cleaner, cordless drills, electric staple/nail gun, jigsaw, leaf sucker/blower thingy [that DS has stolen] and other things I can't remember! All superb and I can't find fault with. Remember....it doesn't matter if you buy a Rolls Royce or a Robin Reliant........they'll both go from A to B and back again Best of luck! alih
thank you guys - I absolutely don't want to buy a name and am happy to buy cheap if it works - just not sure whether I should be looking for some technical jargon that tells me something special!! Garden centre prob not the best place then - will try the dreaded Tesco or similar..
Helen&Lee
Do you have an Aldi near you? Amongst the special buys that started last Sunday (14 Sept) there was a 2.1KW Pressure washer for £79.99. Might be worth popping in to see if there are any left.... chelsea
we've got a Bosch one (I got it free with my nectar points) It isnt terribly big or flashy when it comes to power washers but it does the job adequately.

B & Q did have a cheap one in. Not sure what it's like but the pressure rate was the same as the dearer ones and I think the water flow was more or less the same. WitchHazel
I went for a what was then a really good model, with lots of features for cleaning my driveway. I lthen learned that I can't use a pressure washero clean my block paved driveway, as the pressurized water dislodges all the stuff between the bricks. This means I have a full featured, with wheels which I can't use in my garden, heavy pressure washer. It's brilliant at cleaning my Clube, but if I'd realised that was all I was going to use it for I would have gone for a LIGHTER cheaper model. Snowy
We bought this one from Amazon. It is small enough to tuck away in the corner of the shed and does a grand job of cars, patio and cube

Once you start, you can't stop....I had my dad down earlier in the year and set him on - you can see the difference in colour between the slabs he's done and those he hasn't!! alih
oh you are so right - I have spent most of the day in the sunshine doing the patio which was BLACK! It's so gratifying and the "once you start you can't stop" is so true - just have a bit to finish tomorrow then will have to find some more things to spray - it's so much fun!!
