Geoid
....Tissues! Do NOT use toilet paper to blow your nose if you have the flu/cold. Toilet paper is too co"Ooops, word censored!" for the job! (my nose is all cut and bleeding now ) A Fred public service announcement
Guest
Fred - you are using the WRONG toilet paper. I always find a bit of quilted velvet or charmin is BETTER than tissues - far more gentle on the old schnozz
Scramble
Poor you I'm glad we have lots of tissues in now, especially since the flu is striking here too. A Fred public service announcement Pengy - not toilet paper, balsam tissues! I hate the feel of velvet, the paper and the thing, it makes me shudder. x

jlo
Ah Fred - you have my sympathy. Been there, got the T shirt (and the sore nose!) I would recommend Happinose to soothe the old konk. The only trouble is that the local pharmacies seem to have stopped selling it!

Goosey Lucy
No, you need Kleenex anti-viral tissues. My local chemist (Lloyds) are selling a box for 99p with each cold & flu remedy you buy. (But the little blue dots on the tissue are a bit distracting )

I still remember being sent into the toilets at first school for some sheets of that to use in class when the teacher had run out of tracing paper . And no I didn't go to school in the dark ages, I'm only 31 .

Olly
Oh that has made me chuckle, I remember Izal ... cheap, and strong but VERY rough on the, er, delicate parts. It has to be the balsam tissues, I always suffer more from a sore nose than anything else when I have a cold as I've got quite sensitive skin. moochoo
We used to call Izal slide on, slide off paper....who still buys it in enough quantities to keep the company going?
Egluntyne
You have to wonder don't you? Maybe it is the people who like to make kazoos.....but where do you get a metal comb these days? Aren't they classed as offensive weapons?
clootie
.but where do you get a metal comb these days? Aren't they classed as offensive weapons? Only if they're used to tease the mane into those offensive hairdo's I see every day!!
Cinnamon
You need the Balsam tissues Fred. No sore snooter with those!
Chook n Boo Mum
We have a tube of Drapolene still lurking in the drawer, which we use to sooth sore snozzles. Wonderful stuff & as it's pink it doesn't show up like a huge attention grabbing beacon! My dad always has a pocketful of blue towel (and a very sore nose!!) - now that stuff is evil!! Hope you feel better soon Fred, I detect the start of a sniffle here & have stocked up on the Kleenex cold & flu tissues - lovely!! Egluntyne
**No Sor** is very good for tender snozzles....but it does sting for a moment when first applied.
The Dogmother
We use Waitrose recycled paper toilet rolls and they are fine for when you have a sore nose, as are Cotton Soft tissues. I use 8 Hour Cream on sore noses; heals it in no time
Seagazer
You have my sympathy Fred Luckily mine still seems to be just a cold but YS has had upset tummy since Sunday, a rash and now he's woken up with a stuffed up nose and very red eyes - bless. I would like to know how they ever thought that Izal was any good as a toilet paper though? My FIL used to use it. They had to have two seperate lots of toilet paper, nice stuff for the rest of the family and Izal for him - very strange I usually have a balsalm tissue for blowing my nose, lovely. Egluntyne
We used to visit an elderly relative who only had Izal. We didn't stay for long.
