Last Sunday I rescued three ex batts. Despite the arctic conditions today they laid their eggs in the NEST BOX!!!!! , free ranged in the garden, spoke briefly to the other girls, had dust baths under the camelia, ate pasta, grapes and meal worms and took themselves off to bed very happy and lucky chickens, Now that didn't take long did it????

Names still being debated I'm afraid....It's either Faith, Hope and Charity ( Not very original but fitting I think) Liberty, Equality and Fraternity or Hop, Skip and Jump

It's amazing how quickly it comes to them too. I just love watching Tara King sprawl her way around in the run dust bathing, whilst the other two scratched around happily.

I remember sobbing at their my lot's first ever free range - and the silence at work when they saw the first photos and realised just what an appalling state ex-batts are in. Now they are all healthy happy confident greedy creatures and very cheeky little madams with it

 

I'm down for three more ex-batts in March and hope my "big" girls can teach them to be proper chickens as fast as yours

Love the names Hop, Skip and Jump plus I see you have a Helen too. Being a Helen myself I'd love to see a picture of her - never seen a H(el)en before. Both sets of trios are great names too . Looking forward to the pictures.
