4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Went to lock the girls in their run this afternoon and found Mindy dead in the garden underneath the apple tree She's the 4th of our ex batts who has died. Poor love had looked "old" over the past few days but was still feisty enough to grab at the chickens over twice her size.

Just think how lucky she was to have enjoyed freedom! It is sad though - I have lost two of mine already, and with Annabelle being the strongest of the four it came as a bit of a shock. I was really upset because they had only just started to look like healthy, happy chickens with feathers - you just wish they could hold out longer. Hugs

Aww bless her , such a shock for you but what a lovely way for an ex batt to go....under the sky, surrounded by nature and much loved.

I know its sad when a loved pet passes away but, what a wonderful spot for her to be in when it was her turn. If you think about the life she had before you homed her, and then look at how it changed she was a lucky hen really.

but what a beautiful way for her to go after all she had been through. Under the sky, and cared for and loved. She knew what it was to be a proper chicken before she had to go.
