Omletina Kyckling
Wish me luck folks! I'm singing in a concert tonight! I've joined the local WI choir, The String of Pearls, and went to my first rehearsal last Wednesday to be told we are singing in a concert tonight. I'm the baby of the group, but they are all so lovely, I think I'm going to really like it. I am terrified though as I don't know most of the music (they only rehe"Ooops, word censored!"d one of the songs last week as they were working on new material ) so I may have to mime quite a bit. My mum bought my choir outfit for me last week when I was up north, we have to wear a black top and full length black skirt. We hit the Monsoon sale and I've got a gorgeous black silk top to wear, plus a plain long skirt. We also wear a string of pearls (hence the name) and my mum has let me have hers on long loan. I just hope it all goes ok!

Ain't Nobody Here
Good luck . I sang in a choir till fairly recently and had to perform in a concert while still a novice . It was a bit scarey but we got through it! Just mime if you're not sure of the tune .

Omletina Kyckling
Thank you all for your kind support. It went really well, and I managed to sing most of the songs. They are such lovely ladies, I think I'm going to really enjoy it. The programme was Oklahoma Some enchanted evening Bring him home from Les Miserables Marianina (Italian folk song) The water is wide Linden Lea Brother James' Air (The Lord's my shephed) You raise me up You are my sunshine With a song in my heart A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square Diamonds are a girl's best friend Wishing you were somehow here again (from Phantom) I could have danced all night The rain in Spain All in all, a lovely evening
Egluntyne
You will have no voice tomorrow. I love the song from Phantom.
Plum
Well done, those songs bring all sorts of memories for me. And where is Jerusalem?
Olly
ooh, lovely! Linden Lea is one of my favourites, as is 'Bring Him Home', sung both of those with my choir. That was a big programme! I'm singing 'O Waly Waly' (The Water is Wide) at the local Music Festival in a few weeks my first ever solo performance! Singing is great - you'll enjoy the next concert even more because you'll have had time to learn the music, that was very brave of you to join them after only one week. A chickychickychick-ENN!!
What fun! My old choirmaster used to say that so long as you mouth 'rhubarb rhubarb' when you forget the words, "Ooops, word censored!"ody can tell any different. That's not what I tell my choir!! If people can't hear what you're singing about, then there's not much point singing! I run yearly projects/focuses. This year we are concentrating on diction, especially the ends of words and middle consonants like the T in Christmas. Last year we worked on pulse, keeping the music steady and the year before we concentrated on good breathing.
