The Weather Thread #2

Glad to hear the girls are settling in well.

Today is my first day without Noah at home in a while. I think they have forgotten what I look like at work, but fingers crossed Noah is at the childminders for a half day today and if he seems okay I will go back to work tomorrow. He is like bambi on ice at the moment, after spending 2 weeks on a ventilator he has a lot of muscle wastage so has slowly had to learn to walk again. We have been encouraging him by telling him he can help dig on the allotment and grow strawberries.

It's really pelting down here. Opened the door to the run about an hour ago as I thought it would ease off, the girls shot out as normal. Looked out half hour ago and they're all stood in the run looking glum and ruffled. Hope the dry weather comes back soon.

It's got colder here and it rained quite hard for an hour or so but has eased off a little.

Hubby has 5 miles to cycle home from work but these yorkshire men are made of hardy stuff and it never seems to bother him.

Chooks have been in and out of the run and look very bedraggled.

Somebody has to invent a waterproof chicken to cope with the Southern Lakes weather.

I'll lock them in early so they get a chance to dry off a little before they go to bed.

Oh dear, lashing down again.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :(:(:(:(

It's horrendous here too. It's been raining all day and now we have gales.

Just been to lock the chooks in their run as the lawn.....well mud patch is now under about 4 inches of water. They were none to happy and are a bit scared now with the wind shaking their run. I thought the roof was going to blow off it the wind was so strong. Very Scary.

Rain has stopped

I've just heard my first Curlew of the year :):) Early :!:

These guys move to the coast in winter but come back to the fields in spring so maybe they know something the weather forecasters don't.

Female Tawny kept me awake shrieking last night but no answering Toooooo Woooooo so maybe she still has a mate to find.

It started out not too bad - even had a bit of sun. Just been out to put the girls away to find the carpet had blown across the garden, the shower curtain ripped from the side and blown away and a pane of glass has smashed onto the new deep beds. Job for me tomorrow morning before the girls cut their feet. I think it must be a bit breezy.

Just been out to get the chooks grubs etc in as DH didn't when he came home, & discovered the garden is in training to be a paddy field again! One of the sheets of corrugated plastic has come adrift on the walkin run, so everything is awash! I think I'll deal with it tomorrow :anxious:

How long is this wind etc supposed to stick around? I haven't seen a forecast for days, so it came as a bit of a shock when I went outside earlier.

I want the lovely spring we've had for the past week+ back

Very cold last night, all the rain had frozen to the car and DH had to s"Ooops, word censored!"e it before he could come home. Clear but chilly now - although they have threatened hail, sleet and snow for the Midlands

Happy Snowy Birthday Feemcg! :D

The wind has died down and it's much colder this morning...

Not as bad as the forecast but everywhere is lightly covered with a crust of frozen hail. Ominous clouds in the sky though... :anxious:
