The Weather Thread #2

Recommended Posts

It remained dry yesterday but we did have a cloudy spell for a couple of hours in the afternoon - the temperature didn't get much over 13 degrees. Then the sun returned. We could see lots of stormy clouds on the horizon, but they never ventured towards us. This morning is beautiful - just about to go out into the garden - hope it's warmer.

Ooh just a note - there is a programme on cloud spotting on BBC4 at 9.30 on Sunday. I have the guy's book - very interesting.

Rained heavily overnight but the morning is bright and sunny and full of birdsong.

Yesterday we had an earthquake :!::!:

There was a large bang and the windows shook just like you get when a tractor and trailer rumbles by. I was drying my hair and thought that's just what it was and thought no more about it till I watched the news in the evening.

Exciting stuff here "Up North":dance:

I love that sort of stuff ... must watch it. Thanks Koojie :)

Didn't hear about the earthquake at all - all Flu reports, so tend to switch off! It's all those mountains!

At the moment we have a few puffy clouds building up. By the way, the cloud man is Gavin Pretor-Pinney and his book is quite easy reading - even the technical parts aren't too bad. Some of it is funny too. I had it for Christmas (the one before last) and is called "The Cloudspotter's Guide", if you are interested. His website is:

Lots of fabulous pics. Eh? Just a mo - where's the sun gone? Come back . . .

Yesterday after a big build up of fluffy clouds, they all got much smaller again and we had a very nice afternoon. This morning was grey, but dry - I thought it would be wet when I got up. It's still dry with lots of grey cloud and the sun tries very hard to shine through. Quite warm really, considering.

Edited to add 3pm and it's now raining steadily - 2 grumpy fat birds in the greenhouse - er I'm not in there!
