Has anyone done any spring cleaning?

Recommended Posts

i painted my kitchen today - yellow- Homebase "egg yolk" . Looks very bright 8) Does anyone still spring clean? My mum and gran were ardant spring cleaners. I am afraid to say I'm not. having moved freezer out on my own with a ginger tom trying to muscle in grrrrr I was shocked at amount of MUCK under it :shock: I think Aggie and wotshername would have a field day in my house. In my defence I work part time, have 2 boys, 2 cats and OH cluttering up and bringing their dirt in. I ache all over, fell off the ladder twice and wobbled violently the rest of the time. Feel a big sense of achievement - right whats next ?? :D:D

I washed the kitchen walls last weekend but did not pull out any appliances - I did the cooker at the beg January when I needed a part and was affronted at the mess. My fridge freezer has not been out of its place in years and I dread to think! - whats growing under it!! I know there are pens from the cats and there will be loads of hair etc. Ugh - Kim and Aggie would love mine too

Life is much too short to waste time spring cleaning :) However, when I first got my cat as a kitten she took refuge behind the fridge freezer and would not come out. We ended up pulling it out and I was genuinely shocked at the amount of ummm rubbish and gunk it had been hiding  I even found some magnetic plastic letters that were on the fridge when the children were really little about 15 years ago :)

I am what you would call a "suface" cleaner.....I only clean what you can see  I dont usually move things like sofas or beds, bookcases etc and clean behind unless absolutely necessary (i.e - like decorating), so Kim & Aggy would have a field day behind things here.

I dont really have any excuses! I have to be in the mood for cleaning and I never am!

What I do clean though is very clean :D

Naaaaa! I'm another who cleans a lot less since I discovered chickens, and subsequently rediscovered sewing and gardening. 8)

But I had the best present ever yesterday - I've spent quite a bit of time lately with a friend, teaching her how to use the sewing machine and taking her to patchwork classes. So she CAME ROUND WHILE I WAS OUT AND CLEANED!!!!! Isn't she wonderful???? 8)8)8)

I have a cleaner, I'm not sure she moves the furniture either to be honest! but she does leave all the surfaces nice and clean and the floors, which I hate doing. So no spring cleaning here, but I have had a huge tidy-up and throwing-out session - something about this time of year that makes me want to reduce clutter.

And I sprung-cleaned the greenhouse at the weekend - does that count? :D

You're not too far from me Snowy - send her this way!

Then please send her down this way...... :D

I'm trying to change the woodwork in this house - which was stained and varnished a nasty orange/brown colour - to white paint......it's never ending! When I'm not doing some of that, or trying to pay my son to do it  , I'm trying to get all the seeds sown in the polytunnel and clearing the polytunnel and then we'll be lambing.......

.....so, I'm afraid I only clean what shows these days. The OCD is mostly restricted to making sure nothing moves more than 1cm and straight lines are straight! I did sort out the bookcases last week - does that count?

I had a major clean of the downstairs a few weeks ago, before a get together at my house. It was more a necessity than anything else :?

Its amazing how grubby it all looks when you really look with an objective eye.

I cleaned everything, & it was surprisingly therapeutic :D

I gave my YS's room a good clean out the other day. Mind you that didn't include his toy boxes - he has an Ikea box storage system full of toys which he rarely plays with now  I managed to fill a couple of bin bags. I think its anything to stop me cleaning out the greenhouse :?

My friend works a couple of days a week and her house is always spotless, like a showhome really. I don't work and even when I give it a clean its never the same as hers but I like to think mine is more of a 'home'. Does this pathetic excuse work do you think?:D

I started spring cleaning when we had a couple of good days a month or so ago.

After winter, as soon as we have a bright sunny day with that special, ozone-full, clean air, i just HAVE to throw open the windows all through the house to let Spring in.

I also take down the curtains - all of them, one room after another - and wash them. Usually they are all dry and back up the same day. I just love to get Winter washed out of them.

As for the real cleaning cleaning - well.... not so much. I normally wait until a bit later when there is more good weather, and then tackle the house room by room. This year though I'm having a grand old clear out of clothes that no longer fit, and I've been busy selling as much as possible on Ebay. I'm trying to make enough moneyto cover the outlay on my wedding outfit for my DSD's upcoming wedding. I'm nearly there.

So spring cleaning will have to wait until late spring/early summer.

Well I have just been out in the garden helping mum empty the greenhouse so she is now out there pressure washing it. I'm guessing i'll have to go back out and help her put it all in a while, although its a lovely day so i like being outside.

We don't really spring clean and when i hover i never move large furniture. I moved bedrooms recently and the room i'm in now is smaller so i had to sort out some stuff i didn't need, however i didn't throw much of it just put it in boxes in the loft! One day i will have a proper clearout and take it to the charity shop/s.

Hate cleaning! But I have been around with a cobweb brush and done all the ceilings. That evening I sat down and spotted 2 huge ones that I had missed - but I know I had done it otherwise I would have noticed them before moving on - how did they sneak back? Then the following day I spotted a beautiful new web all across the whole width of the window from ornaments to candles to ornaments. Now I know my mum did that properly - she took the things off the window ledge to do it. The blooming spider had to have been waiting for the things to be put back before it went merrily on it's way! Why bother! I did however blitz the kitchen again, the other month - but doesn't look like I have. Hate cleaning!

It takes a spider such a long time to spin such a delicate and beautiful thing, it seems a real shame to destroy it.

I try not to disturb cobwebs, until I'm sure the Spidey isn't using them anymore (when they go a bit manky with the dust you can be pretty certain the Spider has vacated).
