Egluntyne
Have you tried this yet? Amazing! **Article here** I could clearly see the face of a neighbour!
Lesley
I thought they'd made faces and number plates unrecognisable? Not much point in me looking - it's only cities.
fluffyknickers
Apprantly they were in our village this week as everyone talking about seeing the Google Van! Will check now x
fluffyknickers
Unless I am doing something wrong my street isnt on there yet but the centre of the village is. Michelle
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I don't like it. You can clearly see faces on it and I think it helps criminals. I can see my old street and can clearly see doors, windows, cars - it shows the affluence of an area and how easy to steal from it it would be. Feels too invasive. I LOVE the idea of it, but given the way of the world... (goes back to reading the Daily Mail and considers move to Tunbridge Wells )
little chickadee
This is seriously creepy. I just looked at my old street in Brum. You can zoom in way too much and I really think this will help criminals. Nice to see that my front door and windowsills are still bright purple though! Can't do that on my new house because I've got plastic woodwork
Tessa the Duchess
Just been on the lunchtime news, Google are removing a lot of images as they have had a load of complaints. Apparently one image showed someone being arrested and another showed someone being sick in the street Tessa
chickencam
I have mixed feelings, it is fun to look at places that you used to live in or are about to visit. My parents are about to move, this has come about quite suddenly because they live in a tied house which needs serious repair work so they are moving to another house owned by my Dad's employer ( he is now retired but has a house for life ). I have been able to look at the house they are moving to and look around the surrounding area on Google Earth and it would be nice to do the same with this in more detail. I live 150 miles away so I will not see the house for myself for a couple of months. They do however have to more careful with the identitiy of people etc though. PurpleTree
I've just been on there, and had a look at my house. I zoomed right in, and luckily because of the reflections you can't see through my front window. Had a look at my parents house and my grandparents too. Looking at the flowers in my front garden, they must've come last Summer. There's no way of looking into the back garden. On Google Earth you can clearly see our plastic yellow slide in the garden. I must've been out when they came and took the photos, we live in a small cul-de-sac so I'm sure I would've noticed something happening. tom123
Am I being really stupid or something but I can't find out where to get it? Help? Thanks Tom
Reikiranf
I'm just glad that I had the dining room blinds down on the day they took the picture otherwise I reckon you could zoom in and check out the room! I was shocked at the detail that you can see on streetview. I thought it would be a similar picture quality to Google earth not HD Amanda
Seagazer
I just googled my daughter's old uni house in Nottingham in the hope that she might be walking down the road but no luck. I might try the rest of Nottingham - hubby worked up there during last summer. We're not covered yet
PurpleTree
Am I being really stupid or something but I can't find out where to get it? Help? Thanks Tom I got there from reading the article on the BBC News about the photos being removed. There's a link on the right hand side. Sure there's a more direct way though. Here's the link http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/mpl?layer=c&ie=UTF8&moduleurl=http://maps.google.co.uk/help/maps/streetview/mapplet.html&mapclient=google&utm_campaign=en-GB&utm_medium=van&utm_source=en_GB-van-emea-gb-gns-svn&utm_term=rd
Egluntyne
Am I being really stupid or something but I can't find out where to get it? Help? Thanks Tom Go into google maps in the ordinary way, Tom. Type in the address you want to look at. If Street View is available in that area, the option will be there in the box, (as below). It is only available in certain areas at the mo. (I don't live on Glossop Road.)
Aunty e
I quite liked looking at the street that a house I want to buy is on...
ali-s
We are not on it a the mo so i went to have a look and my parents house they haven't been done either. What I did find surprising is when I typed in my parents address and my Dad's name appeared above the address I typed in a few more addresses of friends and family but no names just addresses. Ain't Nobody Here
That is hilarious . My neighbour is taking her wheelie bin in her pinnie (you can't see her face, luckily). My garden is so overgrown you can't see into the house (again, luckily ). It must have been taken last summer as my japanese maple is in full leaf. Chickvic
Thankfully all of our windows have the reflections in them, but the end of my porch that has peeling paint looks disgusting! I also looked up the road at the back of our house and you can just see the end of the eglu run with the shade on No chickens though, the fence is too high! Guest
Nowhere round here is on there and neither are my old houses in Hornchurch. Had a bit of fun though looking up a few friends houses in Romford though. Disappointed that Omlet aren't on there yet!
Tessa the Duchess
Just went and looked at the house in Kent where I was brought up, which my mum lived in for over 60 years. I could cry, they have concreted all over her lovely front garden and turned into a huge parking area, my poor mother would turn in her grave Tessa
bellekatz
My husband is busy loading up the car for a Sunday morning trip to the tip on ours - was just after we had the conifer chopped down in the front and he was clearing the remains of the debris away. clearly recognisable if you know him!!!! Cate in NZ
Ooooh, thanks for mentioning this, I've just wasted a pleasant half hour on a Saturday morning browsing it . My Mum's home isn't on it yet, but my sister moved house in September and I've not yet been able to visit her new home......well, now I have, thanks to Google . My old home is on there too, doesn't look like the new owners have done much to the exterior beyond putting up a few hanging baskets, bt they'd probably only been there a couple of months or so at the time that the images were taken. Now I'll nip back and check up on some of my old friends and neighbours, desperate to catch a picture of someone I know We've had Street View covering NZ cities for quite some time now, although my current home isn't on it, apparently they took the photos a couple of years ago before this place was built .
