RIP George

Don't know if this is the right place for this as I'm sure there is a special place but I can't find it so hopefully a mod will come along and move it if necessary.

Had to have my lovely boy George PTS today. He would have been 17 years old in May and I have had him since he was 12 weeks old. He was such a smoochy boy, a real lovey dovey but the last few weeks he has gone down hill fast and was so thin and feeble that I felt it was time. He has had a heart problem since he was a kitten and has been on daily tablets for the past couple of years but I took him to the vets yesterday and he said that he felt that he probably had a tumour on his liver but wasn't in any pain so to spoil him and bring him back when I felt he had no quality of life. However, he really went down overnight and couldn't even jump up on the settee anymore and didn't want any food at all. After watching him struggling all day I know it was the right decision and it is now quite a relief (mind you that is after 2 large G&Ts and a couple of glasses of wine). Anyway he is now buried in his favourite spot in the garden and my neighbour gave me some lovely Wanda primroses to plant on top of him.

I'm so sorry to hear about your lovely boy. :(

It sounds like a similar tale to when I lost my Chippy- he was nearly 17 too and I found it difficult to remember a time when he hadn't been around. It's so hard to let them go but such a kind thing to be able to do for them.

I'm sure you'll have lots of happy memories to bring you comfort...

Big hugs to you,

RIP George xx

So sorry to hear your news. He was a very beautiful cat and sounded great company to have around. Its horrible when they get that ill, and a very brave but correct decision you made.

He looks so much like my cat Yo-Yo, especially in the sleeping photo.

RIP George

sorry to hear he's gone Rona, he was an elderly chap and had a great life but it's not easy to lose a much loved pet :( Doesn't sound like he suffered though which is a blessing xxx

RIP George.

What a lovely cat not unlike my Scamp sounds like a similar nature too, she talks a lot.

It is hard when you have to say goodbye to a much loved pet. Our cat Toffee died nearly 2 years ago now we had her for 17 years and she was at least 19 when she died.

We are now very happy with Scamp and Ziggy but Toffee will always be part of our family.
