jlo
Having read all the posts on the great toilet roll debate and felt myself to be a wholly inadequate "housewife" I now have further evidence that I am a complete slovern (Is that a word - it sounds right but I am not sure!) I have just moved the sofa in preparation for a new window being fitted and found about a dozen party poppers under there from New Year's Eve Hmmm - don't think I had better be inviting Kim and Aggie round any time soon! Guest
I'm frantically running around picking stuff up off the floor and putting it away before the cleaner comes. Imagine if I didn't have a cleaner - nothing would ever get picked up or cleaned!

Lesley
I did move all our furniture at the weekend as we were having all the family here and last time they were all here we decided to add more chairs and everyone moved the furniture to make room for them............ ....I blame it all on Jazz.....I never used to have that many dust bunnies (and dog toys) lurking! Valkyrie
I think it is the party poppers at fault here - they have a habit of moving into areas previously cleaned. If we had a cleaner, I would take at least 3 days to clean the house from top to bottom beforehand! Yonks ago a friend and I teamed up - one week we'd clean her house and the next would be mine. As she had only a very small cottage I felt rather guilty and we decided to leave upstairs of mine. Guess where all the junk was hastily thrown?! Just before MIL arrives I always hoover under all the seats of the chairs and sofa - and inside too. She has a habit of dipping her hand down the sides to find any cash that may have fallen out of trousers - fat chance here anyway. Very embarassing as she used to find sweet wrappers, nuts and assorted goo, fluff, crumbs and hair bands - yuk! Of course the extra bonus was when the offending mess stuck to her hands - harrrr! chickencam
We have a large leather corner suite which we have had for 3 years during this time it has been moved once from one side of the room to the other. I dread to think how many dead woodlice there are under it, because whenever you move anything in this house you find a layer of the stupis creatures
girlsmum
A few years ago we had a lounge diner and were having doors installed between the two. The joiner turns up with his tools and i move the sofa out of his way so he can start work. Guess what was lurking under the sofa? A mushroom (white button) WHY? chickenanne
Ah yes, you see, but I have asthma. It's well known that children brought up in over-clean houses get more allergies, and asthma. And therefore it follows logically that adults living in, erm, under-cleaned houses will have their asthma cured. So my house might be a little - how shall I put it delicately - filthy, but it's necessary for medical reasons.

Lydia
The reason we've ended up with 18 stickinsects was precisely because of non-hoovering behind furniture. The little blighters have a habit of kicking their (pin head sized) eggs out of the sides of their cage and, when they lived in the lounge, the eggs ended up on to the carpet beneath. Next thing you know you're watching telly and a baby stickinsect wanders into view......then you glance up the curtains and find 8 more! The sticks now live in the kitchen where I can see their eggs on the granite surface
