Which chicken/gardening mags do you read?

Recommended Posts

I get together with a couple of friends and we all swap the mags that we read, when I get mine back I send them off to another friend so that's recycling in a big way! :D

I get a subscription to Practical Poultry mag every year from my folks, I also sometimes buy Country Smallholding, and a friend lends me her Kitchen Garden mag

Which you you read?

I don't subscribe to any but have read Practical Poultry (And will probably subscribe now as i thought it was really good plus I'm no where near a WHSmiths that seems to be only place around here that sells it) I've also picked up Home Farmer which seems quite good as it covers chickens and fruit/veg issues. Grow Your Own is good too as the articles don't assume you know everything about plant/gardening.

I also love all the homes magazines like Your home, Good Homes etc but they have nothing to do with chooks... just me dreaming!

I subscribe to Home Farmer. Occasionally buy Practical Poultry and Country smallholder.

I used to buy Grow Your Own every month but stopped when we moved. We have just got one of the greenhouses and the veg garden up and running so I will be buying GYO from now on.

used to buy Practical Poultry when we first got the chooks and bought Home Farmer quite a few times but you don't see it in the shops anymore. Kitchen Garden was always our gardening mag of choice but we have a years worth of back copies so I just re-read them month by month through the year.

We don't really buy magazines anymore because they are so expensive. I was a BBC Good Food subsciber for about 5 years and I have kept them all so again I re-read them month by month.

Subscription to Country Smallholding, get Practical Poultry and Home Farmer when we see it. Mum gets Country Living and Gardeners World which I flick through before passing on to my brother. Every now and then I'll buy Farmers Weekly (one of the reasons we decided to eat organic where possible - have you seen how many chemicals are dumped on spuds?). Not too fussed with Smallholder - that is virtually like Farmers Weekly, not as user friendly for a plebby like me, imho.

I seem to have the lot! :o

I used to adore Practical Poultry but have recently turned a blind eye to it because it became very repetitive and a bit lack lusture. I have changed my loyalty over to country smallholding, small holder, gyo, gardeneners world. It is a bit scary to see the amount of money they actually cost, but hey ho, they are a good read! :)
