clootie
Rescued you now Debs. I think this thread is dying somewhat, perhaps Mark would like to end it for us and put us out of our misery. No he musn't - long live the thread !!
Ms Marple
Don't worry Emily, perhaps this thread is destined to run and run and..... However there are at least two threads over in chickens that I have killed quite recently!
Space Chick
And I'm billy no mates trying to arrange a South Wales meet on the Get Togethers section.

Helly Welly
I'd love to go to Wales for a meet, i adore Wales and so does DD. However, i would never be able to persuade OH to drive all that way for a meet and i can't drive. We could meet on Tenby beach, although that's a sure fire way to make it rain!! Alis girls
Bit out of touch with this thread. Whats been happening? Love Wales spent childhood years in Llandudno when we holidayed. Oh and I holidayed there in 1994 before we had kids. would love to take them back. it didnt rain then. London is a long way, but might stop off at Dads in the Mdlands as 1/2 way. Space Chick
It does always rain in Tenby!! Thanks for being my friend Clootie, although Norfolk is a far old way from Neath!
Looney
Hey all! Pleased to see this thread is still going, i've not really been around for a few days. I used to visit North Wales (St Asaph) when I was younger - happy days!
Helly Welly
Me and DD would live in Wales given the chance, although we'd also live in London. Talk about one extreme to the other. Okay, so that's the next question. Given that money is no object, where in the UK would you most like to live?
Looney
I quite like where we are now. If money wasn't an issue then I would buy a bigger house (with more land for chickens, other animals, veggies etc) either in this area or back in Lincolnshire which is where I come from originally. Space Chick
I'd move into a slightly more rural area of Wales but closer to Cardiff too. There are some lovely villages near Cardiff, near a place called Cowbridge. I'd live around there. However, I'd need a good million to get the house and land I'd want, so it will remain a lottery dream!
LaPoule
I love it here in Wiltshire - I was brought up in Scotland, have lived in the North-East, the Midlands, London and Kent, but think the people here are lovely. I feel quite guilty saying that, as if I'm disowning Scotland . Sorry Kemnay - I LOVE YOU! But I no longer feel as comfortable in Aberdeen as when I was a child - maybe it's because I no longer have a Scottish accent And if I could live anywhere, it would be a toss-up between Wiltshire or Brittany. I loved living in Brittany, even if it was like living in soup (rained...A LOT!).
Plum
Wales aah.....I've had some good holidays in Wales. When young I went on a PGL holiday sailing, riding etc which was fabulous in that lovely countryside. OH and I have been camping in the hills. I've stayed at Llanfairfechan with school and few years ago stayed at Llandudno. I also had a traumatic moment in Llandudno when my toddler son let go of my hand and I lost him for a few minutes and was in a complete panic.................... is it ok to talk about North Wales were you talking about South Wales. Dash missed Wales. I do enjoy Brittany though. Went on a patchwork holiday near Quimper. Its so lovely and peaceful and traffic is almost absent just like Wales. Valkyrie
Well if several counties could blend together, then I'd be happy. Not too keen here, although it's better than some places for the time being and still surrounded by lovely countryside. I love Devon, Wiltshire, Gloucester, Hereford, Worcester, Dorset, Hampshire (my grandparents lived in the New Forest), Sussex, Yorkshire, Staffordshire and so many more - oh heck - I just love England. Have only been to Wales a couple of times, the waterfalls there are lovely. Would like to see more of Scotland, only been just over the border in Yetholm(e?) and Kelso. Mum and Dad loved Scotland so much they called their house "Glencoe", so I have always wanted to see the mysterious and wonderful places - and Nessie of course. If I emigrated, it would be either Canada because we have relatives there, or New Zealand because we have a friend there (and I rather fancy Danny Vetori who is the NZ cricket captain ). Angels4
I will not allow you to be the thread killer Koojie. It does seem to be lingering and suffering a slow, painful demise. Should I just lock it up then?!?

Sheilaz
...and I'll unlock it. Except I don't want to kill the topic either. I did see your Wales Meet topic Debs and was sorely tempted to post "thread killer "as your only reply. Decided that it might sound mean, & might in itself kill it though, and that would be a shame as a Meet would be lovely. There may not be many members in that area yet, but hopefully word will spread. I think locking would be cheating. It has to be a clear 24hr no reply for the thread to be dead. Oh, and it replying to oneself doesn't count as a reply!
Scramble
Debs you should dress up in national costume. Love those hats! I'm traumatised from years of being made to dress up in Welsh Costumes! However, I suppose the hats are cool. I know what you mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a ickle welshie but up North I only speak a tipyn bach o Cymraeg and the border is only 30mins away In fact dad works in Liverpool He was born in liverpool, worked in liverpool, then worked in wales, moved to wales, now he works in liverpool though He doesn't want to move back though, he likes liverpool but he doesn't want me and sis to go to school there, he says her remmebers his own school days rather too clearly! Then again, he was a little delinquin, squishing milk cartons behind woolworths....climbing on the roof... I'm a must be from mum's side We could compromise Debs have a meet in mid-wales, were my last year geography teacher was keen to tell us all "Mid Wales, where there are more sheep than people" Edit: oh, and yes Sheila, I would like a cup of tea is that what you put it in your sig for Edit no.2 : I've just realised my post looks very weird as there are a fair few smilies
Space Chick
I did see your Wales Meet topic Debs and was sorely tempted to post "thread killer You should have done Shelia! It would have made me laugh. I only speak a tipyn bach o Cymraeg Thats more than me! Cwtch is about my limit Scramble bach (don't worry Moderators, cwtch is a very nice word, its kind of like a cuddle or also bizarrely a cupboard under the stairs ) We could compromise Debs have a meet in mid-wales, were my last year geography teacher was keen to tell us all "Mid Wales, where there are more sheep than people" Now that would be an option!! Sheilaz
I did see your Wales Meet topic Debs and was sorely tempted to post "thread killer You should have done Shelia! It would have made me laugh. Well, I thought as you don't really know me it could have sounded spiteful. But, I suppose everyone on this topic obviously has the same wicked sense of humour and weirdness to still be here, so I should have risked it. Hope I haven't offended anyone now. Have made the tea as requested, Scramble; yes it's in my sig. and avatar as that's pretty much me. Agree about smilies giving the right tone when you type, but look peculiar once submitted. Especially these ones; Aliens! Not looking forward to modding Welsh.
Valkyrie
You two ought to have a meet up at Pen y Fan! I wheezed my way up there (the long way round) in my skinny days only to be overtaken by a squaddie running with all his gear on his back. That made me feel worse! Tea room at the bottom though. My great great grandmother was Welsh. I also had a hat that my grandmother brought back with her - had it for some time until it got all moth eaten - but then it was rather flattened by then, but then I've always liked headgear. Looney
My Dad has been looking into our family tree and his great-grandfather was Welsh and had a fantastic name something like Llan Llewellyn! I don't know how the first name is spelt but that was how my Dad pronounced it! Talking of funky names, my great-granny was called Minnie Knee which sounds just fab when you say it out loud
Scramble
Minnie Knee does sound funny aloud, it could go on forever mininee-mininee-mininee like banana bananananananananananananananananananananananananananananananan ooh and araucananananananana Also, Llan means church, or village, like Llan a mor, which is village by the sea I also remember doing welsh history and all the different kings, many were called llewellyn Llewellyn ap Gruffudd, Gruffudd ap Llewellyn, they were the most confusing two! And Llwellyn the Last, the only one that didn't sound like anyone else Owain Glyndŵr and he just disappeared one day Edited May 28, 2009 by Guest
