Does anybody else ever feel......PART 1

Recommended Posts

Most clowns do that to me anyway - probably why Stephen King picked it. But I liked The Stand best. Or The Dark was another creepy one although I don't think it has been made into a film yet (can't remember who did that - was it James Herbert?).

Halloween...the first one..... and I agree on the Shining....saw it years and years ago and still remember the sense of brooding menace..also though what about No Country for Old Men...not horror I know but how scared did that film make you feel ?(shame about the ending)

I always fall asleep before the end of any thriller/ horror film - have yet to see the end of Birds, shining, or Play Misty for me. another thriller I loved was "Don't look now" set i Venice so spooky but alas didnt see end.

My mum used to work for a TV rental company and they started video hire too. She was able to get hold of the Exorcist - which OH wanted to see because some of it was filmed in the church near him. He didn't want to drive home in the dark afterwards, so I had to pick him up from his mum's, drive to our house then take him back again later after seeing the film. Never mind about me driving home in the dark!! He spent most of the time hiding behind his hands or turning away - whereas I tend to laugh. He really doesn't like spooky films and he always complains that it makes his armpits all sweaty! :vom:

Mine is the usual "spiders". Urgh. But I have got a lot better with them since I've been on my own.

One night about 1am, I was feeling particularly brave after spotting one on the ceiling between my bed and the window. Psyched myself up to put the little love outside.

The next two minutes went like this:

1. Open the window and pull out dressing table stool ready

2. Collect large, thick glass vase (you know the ones from IKEA) and a book to cover the open vase from downstairs in case the little darling decides to attach itself to my face

3. Climb onto stool

4. Position vase below spid

5. Slowly move vase up towards ceiling

6. Shake vase

7. Spid falls in

8. Cover with book and climb down off stool

9. Spid safely ensconsed in vase

10. Walk to open window and throw everything out :shock::roll::lol::lol:

11. Breaking glass outside as vase smashes into smithereens on drive @ 1am!!!:lol::lol:

Looking back it was hilarious. I just completely freaked out and thought it was going to leap out of the vase if I gently shook it out of the window. Worst part of it was, there am I outside in my dressing gown trying to pick up shards of glass off the drive when the neighbours come back from a night out.:oops: There am I trying to convince them that I'm ok  I'm certain to this day that they thought I was either more than a tad innebriated or completely bonkers!!

But was the ickle spidey widey OK :wink: ?

Not too sure about Incy Wincy. I hoped he may have sloped off into the flower bed. I was starting to panic about how many of his brothers and sisters were within inches of me though :lol: I can cope with them in the garden if it's daylight cos I always keep an eye out for them but in the dark...:shock:

I don't like hair - it's not a full-blown phobia, but I really, really don't like human hair, if it's not attached to someone's head. And it's graded too: fine hairs aren't too bad, and blonde hair, and short hair (so Le Monsieur with short, fine, blond hair doesn't cause too much anxiety). Long hair is worse, and I don't like black hair (again, only an issue when not on someone's head - I take no issue with brunettes per se), and I really don't like co"Ooops, word censored!" hair :vom:. Another reason to avoid the MIL

PS: Koojie - feeling better now?:lol::lol:

 I have a phobia of feet, and of ice cream. The feet are because they are just soo disgusting, and ice cream because it hurts my teeth and it is too cold! It's a bit strange but oh well lol! :D:oops:

Kitbag, I don't think your are a bit strange at all. I have an absolutely blinding fear of Rice Pudding (I'm so afraid I could bearly type it!). Those people at Muller are Evil, I used to only have to avoid the tinned dessert sections of SuperMarkets, but now its the fridges too!!! And next to the yoghurts! Come on people! I love yoghurt! I now have to do my shopping on line, and fast forward through adverts, and if I hear the song This is the Captain of your ship which was used in an early Miller Rice advert, I feel physically sick.

Funny story though, OH and I were on our 2nd date, and went to a pub that did grub, all was going well until I saw a Rice Pudding come out to another table (it was on the dessert menu and I didn't know), so I went running out of the pub in tears. He, bless him, had no idea what was wrong and came rushing out after me and I had to explain my irrational fear!! It can't have bothered him that much, as we've been together for 8 years and married for 4!

You're all going to never speak to me again now, thinking I'm completely barking mad.

For those of you that may think its little peculiar, I did hear on the radio of a number of people afraid of courgettes!

So All, do you think we can keep this phobia thread running for a while!

Wow Debs - bad experience of school dinners perhaps and you've blotted it from your mind?

As for you LaPoule!!

PS: Koojie - feeling better now?
:shameonu:

Someone PM'd me to ask if I was getting scared! So, yes just a little except I'm replying again.

Well my main phobia is being struck by lightning - had 2 close shaves as a child and caught out in a thunderstorm in the middle of nowhere with OH when we were rambling. We came upon a hedge by a field and I Groucho Marxed along it while OH walked normally. Since having children I have forced myself to watch it (from safety) and I don't think I am as bad as I was. It is quite beautiful really, but I don't like being outside when it's about.

The other one is being underground. I do not like it at all - I'll go and look in caves, but will feel very uncomfortable until I get out.
