Getting that first job.......updated!

Recommended Posts

hellymisscloud just got a job delivering the free paper - it's not much money, only about £10 a week, but it will only take her about 2 hours to prep and deliver so a £5 an hour job... not bad. Not glamourous i admit, but maybe your DD could ask about your free sheet?

good luck!

i disagree... :notalk:

it took 2 hours to prep then 2 hours to deliver

i'm not a happy chicken

oh what are you complaining about, miserable chook .... :shameonu:

this new job got you a cube, 3 girls and the start of a chook-business, didn't it? It still works out about £3 an hour - that's not bad when you spend the first part prepping while talking to your chooks. Wish I had a job i could do like that! :talk2hand:

by the way, girl, where's your signature?!

I hope you get news soon. I'm fortunate enough to have a joules outlet store quite close to me, (12/13 miles away), so I can often get some good bargains-although it is too far for me to go and work even though they often have jobs at that store.

Anyway, I'm going to pop into the 'Innocent Earth' store this week to talk to the guy I e-mailed and I've got to finish filling out my temp sales assistant job form for Monsoon-would have done it sooner, (ie before I was away for the week), but I needed photocopies done-will sort it out tomorrow.

Hope she gets a job somewhere soon anyway. :D

Has she tried applying for Work Experience ?

The "Brat" (seventeen this month) wrote around 50 letters at the start of June for weekly work experience during July & August (Work Experience = Unpaid) to local business' large and small companies.

Apparently work experience looks good on your personnal statement when applying for Uni ?? (next year).

She's had a few replies, working at the Chamber of Commerce this week and next. Got 2 seperate weeks at Worcester Tech College in August and a week with payrole at a local food company also in August (All unpaid).

My eldest got her nation insurance card yesterday. I thought that she wouldn't get it until she turns 16 in 3 months time.

She is working as my husband's receptionist for a few weeks over the summer, I can see this being the source of a few rows :roll:

Good luck all you job hunters out there.
