Although Jeremy Clarkson said "I'm not sure if Michael Schumacher is The Stig", and the fact that Michael Schumacher was listed in the credits as being a "guest star" both hint towards it being an elaborate joke.

It's not Michael Schumacher, he was over here to watch the British GP and they had him on as a gues star; getting him to dress up as The Stig was a great way to do it,

It was Shumi driving the Ferrari as he's one of their test drivers. Ferrari wouldn't let just anyone drive a million pound car, would they?

He isn't the usual Stig though he's quite a lot bigger than Shumi.

It was a good "interview" though.....amazing he's only banned in 9 US states!

I have heard that Schumacher drove the ferrari for the fastest lap, as it's his car and he wouldn't let anyone else drive it! I've always thought that there were several Stig's, depending on availability and what was needed on the day

I've also heard that it was a publicity stunt - the real Stig is supposed to be Ben Collins - a stunt driver. That fact was leaked a few weeks ago.
