Guest
To be honest Andrew, I'm looking more distressed than the walls at the moment - I got hit on Tuesday by a bit of tile, and split my lip open, and got hit yesterday by a bit of tile and split my head open. I KNEW I should have married a builder and not a pensions man.....
Cinnamon
When we bought this cottage I hired a huge steam machine to get the 100 years of wallpaper off the walls. But it also brought down all the plaster on the walls,so we lived with the distressed look for quite a while too Hope your lip is better soon Shona

I still like your wall Love the Claret/Rosie picture Actually we try not to touch the walls as the plaster comes away To hang pictures requires a small replastering job Have a painting by my late Grandad, some wierd one of OH's, a wallhanging and a mirror. Looney
Wow, you all seem to have really cool stuff on your walls In the bedroom I have two large photos of the beach/sea that I took in Lincolnshire on a beautiful crisp spring day. Everyone that has seen them has asked whether i took them on my holiday to NZ. They are so calming and remind me of home. In the living room I have a print of the port in La Rochelle which brings back lovely memories of when I spent 6 or so months living there (in La Rochelle - not the port! ) In the spare room we have a scroll and WW1 death plaque in a frame (belongs to OH). Otherwise we have random photos / cards around. The downstairs loo has bright aqua and green walls, pictures of tropical coast lines and beaches and I have hung fish of varying sizes and styles from the walls and ceilings. It makes going to the loo a bit more interesting!!
theherd123
Shona i so know what you are going through at the minute with your bathroom! Having spent the last 9 months renovating our house i cannot recall the times i have trod on odd bits of tile & plaster, or had a shower & feel i was cleaner before i got in! Guest
Okay, not everyone's taste I'm sure but when we decorated our living room it had a very 1940s feel about it and so we were able to compliment that with the WWII poster; "Careless Talk Costs Lives" I have that poster - and a few more I have picked up on trips with the kids to the Imperial War museum - they have some fantastic posters there - quite a good collection... if I had more money - and somewhere to display them - I would collect the old Fougasse war posters - fantastic... Mrs Frugal
I scanned mine out of a book I've got then printed it onto glossy paper and laminated it. It's A4 and looks lovely. I've not seen it for sale anywhere though. You could try printing it from the photo here
Guest
Phil!Is that a great saying or what? (and I love your pic of the guys in the pub; strictly between these walls)! It's funny because it's true! with the fougasse posters - I love the way he sems tro put very little in - but when you look closer there is such witty detail.. in the pub scene - notice how all the bottles and the beer glasses and the beer pumps are actually Hitler in disguise and in the other one, more obviously, the painting is Hitler... there's a few more in the series - I'd love to collect them one day...
