ubereglu
It got really dark here by 8:15am yesterday and the mornings have been quite cold too.
Old Speckled Hen
Yes I've noticed how dark it's getting and how very back-endish it feels. But I love this time of year with all the hedgerow fruits and all the wine and jam making at full throttle. How many shopping days till Christmas??? I've got a holiday hiking in the Sahara in October before then though
Chickendoodle
I'm definitely an Autumn/Winter person. I love chilly walks and being cosy in the house. I do lots of baking and it always makes the house smell particularly nice in the Winter. TV is better too!
Olly
I love falling leaves, frosty mornings, soup, casseroles, bonfires, wearing scarves and hats, lighting my woodburner again ... I wish it didn't get dark so early but I love autumn, it always makes me think of going back to school with a new pencil-case and winter shoes! BarbaraJ
still lovely and warm here have the fans on don't like the cold weather here unless the suns out, cold dreary days are depressing. Happy-Mama
we are still getting nice weather up north at the moment, though are having rainy days in between, I'm definitely not ready for it to be autumn quite yet...
poachedegg
We've got leaves on the lawn too - I don't mind Autumn, quite like it in fact, however I would have liked a summer first!
Ygerna
I LOVE Autumn. I am a spring/autumn kind of person. Winter is ok, I like being out in the cold as long as I've a great big coat on, glowes etc. Summer is too inconsistant and unpredicatable really to have any feelings one way or the other
Scramble
I've noticed the leaves turning here too. Am I the only one who likes all the seasons?
Snowy
No I think I like all the seasons as well There was a real nip in the air when I got up yesterday morning. There is that 'feel' in the air of impending autumny-ness!
The Dogmother
I'm a summer girl! All the hedgerows are early and packed with goodies this year - supposed to foretell a harsh winter
chick wiggle
Its the end of october when the clocks go back that depresses me, go to work in the dark, come home in the dark It'll be even worse this year, I'll hardly see my chicciwiccies
smanners
I would love just 2 seasons .........Autumn and Spring alternating I love the new growth in Spring and the colourful leaves in Autumn. Winter is just too bleak and Summer just too hot for me.(Well when we get one) My birthday is 24th Oct so I sometimes get an extra birthday hour when the clocks go back another reason for prefering Autumn. sparkysmum
Em, we seem to have skipped autumn and gone straight for winter. 2 weeks of rain without a break & freezing cold too. Am fed up already
Happy chickens!
Think we've skipped summer and gone from spring to autumn. I like to be outside all day every day and hate it when the days grow shorter. I've started to draw the curtains downstairs as it's still dark before I go to bed and I hate it when the clocks go back. Perhaps we'll have an Indian summer to cheer us all up. Valkyrie
We were wondering the same thing this morning - driving home from the shops quite a few trees have odd colour changes in patches, particularly the oaks. Green with chunks of yellow - or is it they have a disease and that part is dying off. My robinia tree has died, so has one down the road. In fact several robinias have either completely died or on the verge of doing so with only a few branches with any leaves. My hibiscus plant said "hooray" to it's loss and it's had a lovely show of flowers. The oak tree at the bottom of the garden is dropping acorns everywhere - some huge. At least this year some little pest hasn't got at them and turned them into those spikey things that the knights had. Now they were painful when they landed on your head. The jays have been visiting the gardens for the acorns too. All in all it'll be quite interesting if we have a proper autumn and another proper winter this year. Time to check to see if the boilers work in time for a cold snap.
Karen & co.
We have a few leaves changing colour The days are definately getting shorter too I love all the seasons for the differences they bring, don't even mind rain but I really really don't like short days, there isn't enough day light on work days, and I find I start to crave sunshine. MiL sat in the garden yesterday with winter woolies and a coat on. Lets hope for an Indian Summer
