donnacaward
Our two hens were stolen last night in Bexleyheath. Thieves got into our back garden and into our large chicken run, dismantled a rope perch with bells on to get to the chicken house which they also broke to get the chickens out, without any noise They also stole a 20kg bag of mixed corn unopened One hen is white and has a very noticeable (maybe broken) problem with the left toe on her right foot, she is very friendly and will quite happily jump up on your arm to perch The other hen is black with orangey brown markings around her neck and down her body, she is happy to have humans around her but does not really like being handled (will crouch and put her wings back when someone tries to pick her up) Police are involved and investigating but in the meantime if anyone see's any advertisements, gets offered to buy or hears about any chickens for sale meeting these descriptions please contact by pm. These chickens mean a lot to us and reward will be given if these hens are found, we just want our hens back. donnacaward
I know, even our dog has been whimpering all day because she knows they're gone. I can't believe why they would do such a thing. 2 chickens and a bag of food is worth 40 pounds. It's amazing how little people will risk getting arrested for. We have stuff worth more in the garage they got into yet they left it all there to just take the chickens and food. They're heartless. Redwing
It is heartless, those birds would fetch a fraction of the £40 at auction which makes you realise they would have to steal a great many for it to be worth the bother grrr I'm so sorry

Jennifer Jane
So sorry - it's one thing to foxproof your chickens, you don't expect to have to people-proof them. JJ

hilda-and-evadne
I am not far from you, too, and will keep a look out. I wonder if the police should start chicken-security-advisory visits, like they do for advising you on making your house/flat more secure. Or perhaps we should set one up. Patricia W
There were 40 stolen in Wantage! Bizarrely though, the people we know who had their coop and Welsummer pair stolen at the beginning of the summer had the pair returned! Thrown back over the fence! No coop though.
