DD having her ears pierced this evening.....gulp!!

Recommended Posts

DD was 8 on Tuesday and she has wanted hers ears piercing for ages, we did tell her she would have to wait until she was 10, however waned a little and said she could have them done for her birthday....the only thing is, she is such a wuss, so I don't know what to expect from her

She is really excited and one of her friends has given her a coping strategy - to close her eyes and think of chocolate!!

So heres hoping it goes ok, not just tonight but the next few weeks (she is the type of child that she will want a 10ft exclusion zone around her so no one touches her ears!! )

 bless her I was about her age when I got my first set, Mum took me without telling Dad

I remember the girl in front of me going out with just one ear done because she refused to have the other one done.:lol:

I dont believe it hurts really myself it's a bit of a shock though when the gun goes off and can make her jump. Good Luck! x

My ED daughter had her ears pierced when she was 10. Her birthday is in June so we thought it best to have them done at the beginning of the school holidays. My YD wanted to have hers done this year, but as she is on so many meds right now, they wouldn't do it so shes a bit cross about that. Her friend however had hers done for her birthday (her 10th) and she had both ears pierced at the same time. She said it did hurt a bit, but it was only for a very short time.

She will probably be a bit nervous while she is waiting, but I am also sure she will be fine. I still remember when I had mine done and I had lovely little gold rose studs. I don't remember the pain so it can't be that bad :D

I hope all goes well :D

I was 13 when I had my ears done, & I remember it stinging a bit when I had my ears pierced, & it hurting when I put my ear on the pillow to sleep for a few nights.

When I had a second piercing in my left ear when I was 19 that hurt more

I was at boarding school and I was conned into being the "ear piercer" for the term. It was winter and I used to freeze the ears with ice, then put a bar of soap behind the ear. When the "patient" was comforable I would then pierce the ear with a needle (which had been sort of steralized in peroxide) that was threaded with cotten which had vaseline rubbed on it to make it slide through the hole. Then it was knotted. After several days of the girls moving the vaselined cotton, I cut it and put the earring in! This method was used every term,by whoever was the earpiercer and believe it or not , only one person that I knew of had a mild infection and it had to be done again!!!!!!!! Imagine doing that today :?::)

hey

I had mine done with the gun awhile ago and it stung for a moment and they were a bit tender afterwards but nothing too bad. I was terrible though and use to twiddle them about during school and ended up with some infections nothing too bad but i probably wouldn't have had any if i wasn't such a fiddler

 That made my stomach turn.

I had mine done when I was 10, my Aunty had to take me as my mum couldn't face it. I was fine while they were doing it, but as soon as I stood up I felt light headed and was sick all over the floor. Luckily we were in a room at the back of the shop, I think it was a hairdressers. Would've been horrified if I was in the middle of a busy shop.

I still went on and had the top of my ear pierced when I was 16, was fine with that one. Then had my nose pierced at a festival (where I met hubby) at 17 and fainted.

Ah good luck to your daughter :D

I had mine done when I was about 5  I'm not sure that I asked to have it done but hey ho they've been fine. It was done in a television repair shop, why I don't know, perhaps television repairs didn't bring in enough income. I seem to remember not being overly impressed with having it done. :?

i was six months old when i had my first done was 10 when i had my second 13 had 3rd 16 4th and had my left ear done for the 5th time when i was 18.

I'm not going to let my daughters read that - they're desperate to get them done! Originally me and ex said 14, but loads of their school mates have had them done on their 9th birthday so I can see us getting nagged

I don't remember it hurting but I remember it being sore in the week after, can't remember my second, but when I was early 20s I had my belly button pierced (when it was still flat and not embarrassing to show people :lol: ) and that really stung, I nearly fainted when I stood up and the man had to give me a lolly so I could have some sugar!

Chookiehubbie took Caitlin to get hers done a couple of months ago. I was 13 when I had mine done, and had intended on waiting for her to be a least high school age before she got her ears pierced, but she's a bit of a daddies girl....

Thnakfully they did both ears at the same time - synchronised piercing! - or I think she'd only have one done, as she didn't like it one bit.

That's what they did with DD and she says she was really glad they did! :D She slept on them fine, so perhaps I should have given her a bit more credit....bad mother!!
