eggregiousness
This is a blatant trawl for sympathy please! I've been poorly for nearly a fortnight now First it was flu, then I thought I was getting better- went back to work for one shift and it turned into some wierd throat thing. I've been coughing non-stop since. I got into such a panic the other night I phoned NHS 24 and saw an out of hours doctor - who was not very impressed with my "slight" fever and panicky coughing fits. Don't feel much better now but plan on trying a night shift tomorrow. I don't get sick pay as a bank nurse Eldest daughter has gone back to Edinburgh today so I'm feeling lonely.... OK Finished moaning now - sorry!

Ain't Nobody Here
Aww, poor you . Sounds rotten . I take it you've not been swine flu diagnosed, then . Doesn't sound like you should be working, you'd be better off in bed (not easy if you don't get paid though .) Really hope you feel better soon . chickenNutter
Coly flu things can be really nasty. I had flu last Xmas for 2 weeks which went away and came back again in the form of vertigo as according to the doctor it is quite common for the virus to lodge in your ears! Perhaps it has lodged in your throat. Do take it easy though it si really easy to ge these post viral fatigue thingys after a serious virus. sparkysmum
I think a day or two on the settee with some easy reading & copious amounts of tea/coffee or fav drink sounds like a plan. Don't feel bad, go for it, then think about going back to work.........................sometime Hope you feel better soon

eggregiousness
Hi guys. I did manage about an hour's sleep before waking up choking again. I've never had anything like it! I think I'll try and see my GP. I keep thinking it's just about to get better and then it doesn't. There are so many things I want to do.... PurpleTree
Aww hope you're feeling better soon. Oliver's poorly at the moment, he can barely talk and he was waking up constantly last night coughing til he was almost choking. Danny had it last week and had a couple of days off school. It's terrible when you can't sleep because of a cough. I had bronchitis when I was heavily pregnant with Oliver, I was a real mess with it. I was aching all over from coughing so much. eggregiousness
Thanks for all the lovely sympathy . I was very brave and went back to the GP. Saw a different one this time who changed the antibiotic and gave me a salbutamol inhaler to stop me choking at night. Feel better now! Lozmk1
yup. works a treat, you cant taste onion, just honey honey has antiseptic properties and onion has loadsa vitamin C or something in it (my mothers a nut, she likes crazy concotions rather than shop bought stuff!) Olly
Glad to hear you're feeling better. I've been coughing and generally feeling awful for a week now - finally went to the GP today who said it was viral not bacterial, but gave me a prescription to fill in case it gets worse and advised me to rest my voice (he doesn't know me very well! ) The most annoying thing is that I've had the last three days off as annual leave. Yes, I know you can phone in sick and get it recredited as holiday, but that would be viewed in a very dim light where I work, and I did do some stuff on those days. At least I get paid for sick days anyway - I'm contemplating taking tomorrow as well as I just feel so awful. Hope the new antibiotics work for you, eggregiousness. I would have to be VERY desperate before I tried the onion and honey thing!
Seagazer
So many people I know have the same thing at the moment. One lady I was talking to said she's been coughing so much that she's bruised her diapraghm (that sp doesn't look right at all!)
eggregiousness
Hope everyone with the bug is starting to feel better! I went to bed for a couple of hours this aftrernoon and didn't choke once! Love that inhaler! I feel so much happier now that I know I can lie down without waking panic-stricken. Still coughing but I can put up with that. My sympathy to all who are feeling rotten.
