Chick-a-doodle-doo
ex battery hens on the way home. One extra for the cube! Two of my kids have been with my hubby to collect them and were quite shocked at all of the hens! I'm sorry they have seen that but I do think that's the only way we will get better conditions for the chickens... Some of the hens necks were so long with no feathers. I'm not sure what condition my girls are in yet, but hopefully I will get to see them soon... I still have to take my littlie out so will see my hens later. Can't wait and i have to think of another name.. We changed the names to K, F C One more name now....

Tutti Frutti
Wow! Congrats! We had loud crowing at 7:30am So we pegged some black bags up on the divider so they couldn't see each other and they quietened down for a while HELP!!! dancing cloud
So how are they enjoying their first day? Bet they think they've been very good girls and gone to little chickie heaven! They'll soon catch on to what their new lives have to offer and my little ex-batt rabble can still surprise me by just how well they adjust and get on with being "real" hens
BeckyBoo
Congratulations!! Are you going to have to change your name now? My children are better people I think for seeing mans inhumanity to animals, makes them aware just a little of life outside the nurtured bubble they live in, especially as the chooks feather up and go back to normal chicken behaviour - which doesn't take long BeckyBoo

Hens@HalfMoonLane
I got two from Adele yesterday too - Craig and Surprise. Craig really belongs to my friend but she's going to live with us. Have yours got beaks, one of mine has and one hasn't? They are the third set I've had from Adele. I still have one of my original ones and she's been showing off by picking up leaves and dropping them in front of the newbies - what's that all about? Anyway I was more than pleased tonight because they put themselves to bed in the Eglu for the first time. They are the same breeding line as the last two I got, they turned out to be very friendly hens. We got lost, couldn't find the farm, after driving up and down the road for ages I pulled over and said to my friend could she suggestsomething as I couldn't think of anymore places it could be. My 3 year old chirped up in the back " I've got a suggestion Mum, you could put your lights on because it's starting to get dark".
Chick-a-doodle-doo
oh bless. Glad you found it in the end.. I think mine have beaks, at least 2 have it's difficult to check them all at the moment. We still have to put them to bed in the cube.. Good luck with yours.
