Nooooooooooooo back to school in Northants already, I already have a gloomy cloud over my head at the thought of another week +

Sun will definitely shine when it is back to school, boiling hot before the hols, warm and sunny after, in the holidays a chance to get the ark out or suffer foot rot! Fed up with it, my two weeks in the sun in July seems like a million years ago.

I have reduced the chooks free ranging area as they were jumping up and down in the mud and have created a swamp worthy of Shrek, which was once my lawn! My growers lovely yellow legs are now black.

I work in Rutland, we have a teacher day today and on Tuesday, children back on Wednesday. The holiday has gone so quickly

Lovely day here until it came to light the bbq, the wind got up and just as it was lit it started to rain. Didnt put us off though, we battled through and had a very yummy bbq. Feeling very full now though.

Sun and cloud...got two loads washing dry...just! Got back from a party with Ellin and asked Christian (9) to get the washing in...literally seconds after he stepped through the door the heavens opened...phew that was close!

Yep, nicer in the sun. Today I heard the robin singing away. Autumn's definitely coming - I always associated that birdie song with having to go back to school after the holidays.

Lovely sunny day.

The heather is in full bloom, the hillside purple with colour and the flowers buzzing with bees.

I rejigged the three bee boxes today, letting the smaller hives take a frame off the bigger.

Last mite treatment went on.

Feeding for winter next.

Yes, Autumn is round the corner.

I have never seen the rowan trees so laden with fruit nor blackberries bigger than they are this year.

Foggy this morning and a distinct chill in the air. I'm sorely tempted to put the h on, but OH wants to turn it on in October, the miser! I have layers on and my hands are still cold. The sun is breaking through now. Chickens are NOT impressed.

WE have had 2 weeks of sunny weather but now solid rain forecast for the next five days and a "Siberian Snap for two weeks after that. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
