Sal119
After a couple days of having Lifeguard added to their water two of my chooks (the one's that are laying) look amazingly different When I went down to the run after work today, their combs are redder than they've ever been and they look healthier than ever! They've seeme a bit bedraggled lately with the bad weather and ones moulting a bit, so I thought after worming them last week I'd treat them to some tonic. I'm amazed Heard it was good but didn't realise just how good! How often should they have it?
Plum
I put it in water couple of times a week, I don't know the correct answer. It was probably worming that made the difference
Redwing
Lifeguard is blooming good stuff but I do agree with Plum that the worming probably did the trick I use Lifeguard one week in four
sjp
life guard's crate when you've got a girl laying softies turned Big Red around just after she started to lay last year never thought to use it as a general maintainence tonic
The Dogmother
I use it in the water 3 days a week and ACV on the other days. I use it every day when they are moulting though.
Sal119
Thanks everyone. Going to give it to them regularly from now on, especially in the winter
Sarahsausage
I use Lifeguard every day! Just a few drops in the water, lasts ages.
Space Chick
I use Lifeguard every day too, my ex batts started to improve brilliantly when I started using it
Jools
I bought some recently as I'd used all my Battles, but I only use it at times of stress, such as coming into lay, moulting, introducing newbies, snow etc. I've no idea if it makes a difference tbh, but it makes me feel better! Eggasperated
How does the Nettex Liquid Tonic with Seaweed and Bioflavonoids ( ) compare with Lifeguard as this is what my local shop stocks?
The Dogmother
How does the Nettex Liquid Tonic with Seaweed and Bioflavonoids ( ) compare with Lifeguard as this is what my local shop stocks? They're both pretty similar ingredient-wise; I've used both before now.
Lewis
When I put the 'proper' dose in the PP's turned their nose up at it and wouldn't drink for 2 days! - now I try and use just a bit so they don't realise
Eggie232
How much Lifeguard would you put into a classic glug? On the bottle it says 25ml in 2 litres for general maintenance? Is that what everyone else does? Can be so difficult to work out the correct dosages sometimes and I don't want to over do it!

I thought it was 10ml in 2 litres for a regular dose and only the 25ml in 2 litres if they were in need of a boost
Eggie232
Anne- just looked at the bottle and yes you're right about the doses. But how often would I use it, daily, weekly, monthly?
The Dogmother
I use it twice a week in the summer and every day in the winter/when they are moulting.
bucklamp
Ours have it available every day. That doesn't stop them drinking from puddles, overturned pots, the bird bath.... I can't say how much healthier they are for it but they are active and have red combs etc and even a small bottle seems to last for ages
abwsco
Anne- just looked at the bottle and yes you're right about the doses. But how often would I use it, daily, weekly, monthly? Sorry Eggie, I've been out all day but can see that you've had some replies I tend to use it over winter and as they're all in various stages of moulting they're on it everyday at the moment. Another one I like is one of the oregano ones. I've used Ropadiar but there is Herban and some others. When I start them off on the 25ml in 2 litres I keep them locked in their area to stop them drinking all the dirty yucky water they can find elsewhere in the garden
Eggie232
Thanks everyone, thats really helpful. I'll start using it everyday then too. After just a few days of use, I can see its clearly having a positive effect on their health and wellbeing. So if I add it to a 4 litre capacity glug, on a daily basis, would you say 10ml? Or more? x
The Dogmother
The dosing instructions are on the label, but mine has worn off, so I can't help. I just add a 'splosh' to the water.
Jools
I tend to mix mine in a measured watering can as I have several drinkers to fill, so I do 50ml to 10l. If you're filling the 4l glug to capacity, then don't you need 20ml of Lifeguard?
Egluntyne
The dosing instructions are on the label, but mine has worn off, so I can't help. I just add a 'splosh' to the water. I think a dollop is more accurate.
The Dogmother
I leave my bottle by the outside tap, so the label has faded and washed off
Egghead68
Mine won't touch it. I might try adding just a few drops in future rather than correct strength like poster above
Plum
I use Egluntynes accurate measure
