Cinnamon
We bought some massive & ultra powerful binoculars a couple of weeks ago,& have been out having a look. It is just incredible to see - very, very cool We can see a big dark patch (Sea of tranquility, apparantly) with all these little bright veins coming off it,being slowly covered by the eclipse. We told the girls we could even see the flag that Neil Armstrong planted.......that kept them busy searching for a while
Guest
The moon is half away here now - have been out, snapped a few photos, and will pop out again later, when the shadow covers more!
Egluntyne
Fab view over Egluntine Towers. Took a pic but the camera is ancient so I'm not sure how it'll look. Will pop out again later. Exciting or what!!
Mrs Frugal
I'm taking photos too, Shona but I don't know if they'll come out as my silly camera can't work out what to focus on !
Guest
Chookiehubbie thinks I'm daft for being so excited, but I've never seen an eclipse before. The day of the solar eclipse back in 1999 was quite cloudy here, so was a failure, and I always forget when they mention on the news about lunar eclipses. Cinnamon
Brian is asleep in his chair, snoring, while we are all getting excited about the Eclipse. I think its just amazing, but he is seriously underwhelmed

Egluntyne
I think its just amazing, but he is seriously underwhelmed Him Indoors has gone to bed...can't see what all the fuss is about! I'm up and down like a yoyo. Its absolutely fascinating and beautiful. Standing outside in the dark, gazing at the night sky takes me back to when my oldest boy was doing his Astronomers Badge for Cubs. Happy Days! Jaime
I sort of saw the start and could see how red it was going to look - but now CLOUD Edited March 3, 2007 by Guest
Snowy
Amazing - it's gone smoky red now!
Guest
It's smokey red here too. Amazing! It's 4 degrees outside and the stars are spectacular too, but strangely it doesn't seem cold. It's very still with no wind, so maybe that's why?
Egluntyne
Smokey red here too.
Chickpea
It was amazing here too, I did in fact watch it with a rum and coke in my hand, (kept the chills away) me my dad and bro watched but my mum was not bothered. I took a few snaps but wish I had a better zoom on my camera! I'm pretty annoyed with myself however, was wearing my clogs and tripped and fell, twisting an already very weak and twisted ankle (not the rum I assure you!) and can hardly support my weight on it. May have to pop to local hosp to get it checked in morning, swelling much more angular than when it's been in past.
AnnieP
You lot! Poor Chickpea: I hope your ankle's gone down this morning! I got up , yes I was already in bed, around 10.00, but it looked just the same, went back to sleep, woke up at 1.00 am and had obviously missed the whole thing. That will teach me for being such an erratic sleeper! Pictures please!
Egluntyne
Oh...Chickpea!! You poor thing. Plenty of rest for you today. When I was giving my son a lift back from a 21st party at 1am we had a superb view of the tail end if it. The stars were so bright.....it was beautiful. Mrs Frugal
Hope your ankle is more comfortable this morning, Chickpea. The eclipse was beautiful, wasn't it. I don't know whether any of my photos came out though.

ali-s
What an incredible picture I started to watch the eclispe but fell asleep. Seems I missed something amazing.
Looney
We watched it (in between nipping in and out of pub and restaurant) and it was stunning. Would have been far better if I could see straight and had my glasses on though Chickpea - hope your ankle is ok today. I would top up on the rum today to ease the pain! By the way, have you ever tried dark rum and tia maria together (no mixer just some ice if you want). I LOVE it! [never met anyone else who has been too impressed though!!]
