Martin B
Blimey....best have an omlette for tea tomorrow. It would take all of those eggs to make a decent sized Omlette! (Had to check spelling from Omlet ) Is it 18 there Clare? Any Lucille eggs, or would that just be pushing the luck?
Snowy
Well done those chickens! I love going to the nest box and finding a whole heap! Trouble is I'm too impatient and run out every time one of them goes into the eglu! Think I need to get out more
Laura & CTB
They look fantastic Clare - I've never managed to save more than six at a time so far from my two. Nice to see a full egg holder for a change
Cinnamon
Ah,Bless. Aren't Bantam eggs so sweet. They look so teeny next to my big girls eggs. Only one out of 3 in lay for us so far, which is just as well as I may have to put a dozen eggs on Freecycle soon
Nicola H
So gald the girls are laying again Clare I am sure the eggs will taste great I ate one of Bunty's yesterday and the yolk was so yellow and rich, makes it worth the wait..............I love the egg cosies. The Dogmother
Gee, thanks guys. Yes, Martin, that's 18 eggs! A couple were from last week, but there was a massive haul over the weekend, and Betty has started to lay and gives me an egg on alternate days at the moment. They are tiny eggs, similar in shape to Lavinia's but a slightly darker beige. It is far too much to hope for little Lucille to be laying I'd love one of her little white gems, but we don't get many at all - perhaps 4 a year! chocchick
Well done those hens. My Gran knitted some similar cosies and I decorated them, maybe I'll do a photo at Easter (if I can locate them ) .
The Dogmother
They sound lovely Choccy, these ones are crocheted and are small enough for bantie eggs. I'd love to see yours.

Christian
Congrats Clare! Spring is def on its way! We have had 24 eggs in 8 days! AND the garden birds have started nesting in EVERY available gap in the roof!!! Saw a swallow yesterday . Last year they built a next just above our bedroom window and it looks like they're back again.
Martin B
Do you sell your eggs Christian? Might be an idea. I sell mine at £1.10 for 4, and £1.60 for 6! 10p of every sale goes to charity. I put on my labels and leaflets that people can come and see the chickens if they think they're overpriced. Then they will realise how happy they are. Thankfully "Ooops, word censored!"ody has knocked on the door!
Christian
I would like to sell them Martin, but being away makes it difficult. Plus the neighbours and Postie always get some, so I feel mean asking for money now! Maybe if i got a few more hens

The Dogmother
We've always given excess eggs to friends, family and neighbours. Last year Rosie (who is Chief Egg Officer) decided that she wanted to suggest that if people wanted to make any occasional donations for the eggs, then 50% of that would go to the BHWT. She has logged every donation that she's had and when that 50% reaches £10, I wil write a cheque for BHWT. We came up with a little flyer to put in each egg box. The donation is totally voluntary. Christian
I know we can't take liquids on board (a few weeks with no hair gel and no moisturiser ) but pretty sure there isn't anything about chickens in suitcases! Hmmmmm will think about that!
