When I worked in Birmingham city centre I often used to see various 'Crossroads' cast members (OK so not exactly stars ) The worst was Miss Diane, who I saw several times coming out of Rackhams (House of Fraser) wearing dark glasses and a full length fur coat, in summer

 

When I first started work as a solicitors office junior in the 80's I was delivering post around other solicitors offices and a young blonde girl with a warbly voice asked me for directions to Central studios. She was carrrying a big holdall and pulling a heavy suitcase. I didn't recognise her at the time but afterwards I realised it was Leslie Ash.

 

We used to get the Warwickshire cricketers in the solicitors as one of the partners was involved in the club. I met Alvin Kallicharan and his wife, they were both tiny and lovely, and saw Andy Lloyd (after his face had gone back to normal). Also, Tommy Boyd (Magpie presenter) came in with a 'friend' from Central studios.

 

My dad got chatting to a very young Lenny Henry in Bingley Hall, just after he had won New faces.

 

One of mum's friends is an actor and has appeared in Boon (remember that?) and now does my car servicing and tuning etc

 

Not seen any big movie stars though.

My old house was on an estate where quite a few of the homes were owned by Aston Villa and they put some of their up and coming players in them. One evening we went to the pub and a few of the major Aston Villa players were having a drink with their mates. This impressed my exDH as he was a major Villa fan. I also met a few of the players when the hospital team played Aston Villa Old Stars.

 

Otherwise, I generally don't get to meet any celebrities, and I probably wouldn't recognise a lot of them as I don't watch any reality TV, or soaps, or game-shows (other than Mastermind and University Challenge) or anything that most people seem to watch!

They do say that the best place to spot the stars around Gloucestershire is in Cirencester especially Waitrose where they seem to do their food shopping. Not suprising really as there are quite a few living around the area - Liz Hurley, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Willie Carson, Pam Ayres to name a few. There are also one or two royals around there, but don't think you would find them doing their weekly shop in the supermarket - then again you never know!

Well, YEARS ago I met Lorraine Chase in the loo at madam JoJos in Soho, I liked the jewellery she was wearing so I asked if she'd got it in Africa and she said (in her famous voice!) "Naaah, Bermondsey market!"

Boy George once told me (at the alternative Miss World in Brixton) that I looked "fabulous"

And I once trod on Peter Davisons dog outside WH Smiths in Weybridge!! (Tristan in james Heriot and the old Dr Who) He was very tall (and rather yummy!)

(and to my eternal shame I once chased Midge Ure down Chiswick High Street - but I don't admit to that lightly! He was on his Harley Davidson and I was some mad Goth legging it up the road )

Ooh, Boy George! The girl who lived next door in the 70's/80's met him every week in town. He had a stall in a market in Brum apparantly. She told her very old fashioned parents "I've met a really nice boy, and his make up is beautiful" I saw her a few years ago and she has the same eyebrows as he had. She was really obsessed with him.

We have a friend that often invites us to cricket dinners and we have met a lot of the England cricket team. It doesn't mean a huge amount to me as I don't really follow it that closely but OH was quite happy to have a chat with Andrew Strauss.

 

Robin Smith (who used to play for England) used to ask me to dance with him and then would forget how much taller I was than him - slightly embarassing!

 

Other than that - I have certainly not met anyone as fit as Orlando Bloom.

 

And I am sorry but I don't get the Cup a Soup. I must be behind the times!

i stood next to eddie jordon all night in a pub and didnt realise. The one who played Gloria in aint arf hot mum lives in my old village and used to bump into him in tesco. Did a charity night once and got eyed up by Tom O'Conner. Also met a lovely jockey but the name escapes me. He doesn't ride now and the name begins with F. ALso got appraoched by a top politician (Labour) but the name has escaped me. He called cygnets, swanlings....

Once came back from Victoria on a train with Tony Blackburn in 1966 (before Radio One I think..he played Procol Harum "Whiter Shade of Pale" before it was released, and that sums up the 60's for me - I was only 10, he was after our 17 year old escort - it's a long story but we'd got separated from our teacher and classmates on a school trip to London!)

 

Bumped into Hugh Dennis at our local swimming pool, he had his two (then very) small children in tow and I had three raucous boys who all recognised him from My Hero , so that was awkward

 

Robert Powell was in Carluccios in Covent Garden when I was eating there a few months ago..this was a really important sighting for me, as I was totally in love with him in 1972(?) when he was Toby in Doomwatch..makes me feel all smiley just to think about it

Mine are all relatively minor including quite a few ex-Aston Villa footballers. We stopped our car a few weeks ago to let Paul Merson cross the road in front of us. He was talking on his mobile at the time, but did acknowledge us. Dining in our local, we sat at the next table to Steve Staunton. We saw Nigel Spinks (?sp - Villa goalie from many years ago) walking his dogs. And when I was a student I served Andy Gray in Woollies (he gave me a Scottish note).

 

At work, Adrian Chiles walked past my office. Christopher Ravenscroft (out of Wexford) stood next to me at an art gallery. And my DH reckoned that we were in a chemist in London with Peter Stringfellow. (I wish he'd told me at the time, I'd have looked to see what he was buying).

 

I met and spoke with Prince Philip many years ago at a garden party in Cowes - he's probably the most famous person I've met. And was at the cinema with the Duke and Duchess of kent and family.

We were in Sheringham last weekend and came face to face with Roger Lloyd Pack (Trigger) in an ironmongers! Actually heard his voice before we saw him - it was so distinctive!

And when we went to legoland at half term we went on the Spinning Spider ride with Rio Ferdinand and his family, the day before he flew out to South Africa

We never usually see any stars, so 2 in one year is good going!

Had a phone call from Hubby yesterday to say that he had been in a bakery in London,& was admiring the pert bottom of the young lady in front of him in the queue

Turned around to leave & it was Emma Watson, who he has always thought is pretty anyhow
