Egluntyne
Maybe no one is around, or can't give you an answer.

Egluntyne
People are reluctant to just post a 'dunno' if they look and find that they can't answer the question. I've looked at your pictures and haven't a clue.
amateurkeeper
lol I know I'm just impatient Really? Maybe the photos aren't clear enough. One minute I think there are 2 girls and a boy, then 3 girls, then 3 boys....can't make up my mind!
Ain't Nobody Here
I haven't a clue either but they're very cute . Sorry to get your hopes up with a reply .
Snowy
Hmm, they're .... chicks! Sorry, haven't a clue! Maybe at that age their behaviour is more of a giveaway than their looks Definitely cute though.
craftyhunnypie
I'm going to be brave & have a guess. Gold laced - one of each & the Australorp - boy. Don't quote that! Bottom photo - one at back - boy, one at front - girl & the black one - boy. Emma.x
Redwing
its not at all easy with those breeds and the pics arent the best Getting impatient doesnt make people want to help amazingly enough..
bennett
i would say that they are too young for me to say blue or pink, also some breeds are harder to sex than others
madchickenlady
I think they're too young to sex
Lewis
I think I'd give them a few more weeks
Plum
I'm an optimist - all girls. Sorry haven't a clue but they are cute
amateurkeeper
Thanks for all the replies - we think they're 4 weeks old (breeder couldn't be certain ) and I must admit the other half wasn't around to help with the photos so no they probably aren't the best. It doesn't help with them being so skittish too! What "features" do you need to see to be able to ascertain the sex? Redwing - apologies, I was just making light-hearted banter with Eglutyne. Egluntyne
In general: - The boys will develop combs and wattles before the girls, and the girls will feather up before the boys. The boys will have a more upright stance, and chunkier legs and heads and be bigger overall. Hackle feathers - boys pointy, girls rounded, but these take a while to develop. Don't wring any necks based on these pointers, yet anyway.
amateurkeeper
Egluntyne - no neck wringing here, we're fully prepared to keep at least one cockerel. We've been in talks with a local children's farm who will take in any others, should it happen
bennett
are they still with broody or on heat at night? Sorry to ask just they seem a bit little to be to be without any heat or a mummy. some say the girls feather up quicky whereas boys done, i have just waited untill a comb has arrived
amateurkeeper
Yes Bennett, they are indoors most of the time with a desk lamp and cozy brooder, I just got photos of them while they're enjoying an hour of fresh air
bennett
amataurkeeper - sorry didnt mean to sound picky but like you said, saw the pics and thought they were outside all on thier lonesome needing a fluffy mummy
Mollie333
Thinking she was only joking Redwing. But, give it a few more weeks. Well to early to tell to me.. Sorry!
amateurkeeper
Bennett - didn't think you were being picky at all if anything I'm pleased when I'm asked those kind of questions as it may help if we're doing something wrong and don't know it - as my name suggests, we're a bit new to all this! Mollie333 - they are over 4 weeks old bless them, one is all ready for the "big girls house" but need to wait for the other 2 to catch up before we can move them outdoors. Will post some more photos in a week or two's time, might have more luck then
Valkyrie
The breeder where we got our orps wouldn't let them go until they were 12 weeks old which was when she was satisfied whether male or female. And our big fat blue orpie has quite pointy neck feathers too. Rule of thumb in this household when we hatched last year was it's a girl until it crows. We had one boy that crowed once and he became dinner.
