I just hate the boring meetings on the first day with a certain member of senior management acting like a spring chicken when it's more like an over-aged, past it cockerel whose crow and everything else lacks substance. Sam Palmer Posted August 31, 2010 Share Posted August 31, 2010 I'm in two minds about it. I'm starting a new job next Wednesday, which is exciting and scary at the same time. The biggest change for me is that it's full time - 40 hours a week. I've worked part time for the last 11 years whilst the boys have been growing up, so it's going to take a bit of getting used too! I hate going back to work so much after holidays that I've actually stopped taking holidays which is a big shame, but I just HATE that "back-to-work-tomorrow" feeling of sickness and dread. I'm told the way to deal with it is always to have something on the horizon to look forward to ... Hope everyone's first day back is going ok. I have already been back to work whilst the children are off but it is so much easier when I don't have to deal with them as well. I'm registered for supply work which I'm dreading . My lovely man has made me feel a bit better by booking us a holiday - we are off to Cuba at the end of next week! She's upset about starting senior school because her best friend has moved away. She is so quiet and finds it hard to make friends and it breaks my heart to hear her crying and begging me to home-school her My baby starts at the infant school on Thursday. Deb Dav Posted August 31, 2010 Share Posted August 31, 2010 I am back Thursday - 2 inset/training days (cleaning/backing boards/sorting out PE equipment/labeling drawers, hooks, boxes etc) but have less hours now. Trouble is our Head teacher forgets that most of the TAs are part time and always does 2 full days timetable. She is going to be disappointed when most of us go homeat lunch time But then I am looking forward to adult conservation, natter when having a coffee break etc. My boys are back on next Tuesday so got to try and get them to go to bed a reasonable hour and get up while its still daylight!!! I have 2 training days and to get used to my new commute to work - I will now be leaving the house at 0715 again which may be a little painful to begin with!! "I've forgotten HOW to do my work!" "Will I be able to get up on time?" And "Why do I always feel like this after a summer break? Anyone else got that back to work feeling? Seagazer Posted September 1, 2010 Share Posted September 1, 2010 OH can really tell that people have started to go back to work as its just taken him ages to ride into work and the roadworks around here mean that lots of cars are coming down our road. (It never does I suppose, its just the feeling of dread) Day off today woo hoo. Except I got a text last night and early this morning that I didnt pick up until half an hour ago because the phone had died and was charging to say there was going to be a meeting this morning at some point and could I make it. (which I cant as am awaiting a parcel delivery). I phoned up to explain this but was told they were having a meeting and that a message would be passed on. No doubt my name will be mud. But if the manager wants me there she should phone me and not get other people to text me. When we took DD she couldn't wait to get rid of us as she was so excited and just wanted to get on and sort her room out and get to know the other people on her floor. Have a brilliant time. I don't return to the classroom on Monday . . . . . only two more days left of my wonderful wonderful school holiday. Monday is like a tredmill . . I don't get off until Friday night!!! I generally spend the last few days planning a way out of teaching . . . . This year I am planning to get my head down, work hard, play hard, stay organised AND pay every spare pound off my mortgage. I like a challenge. I have read on the internet exactly how much we could save by over paying each month so I shall sell instead of buy on ebay!!!!
