Popcorn
I asked this in an earlier post, but it might have got overlooked. Can you explain how the weed membrane thing works? I was going to use some, but I was worried it would collect rain water and go moudly and smell.
Christian
Gina, Its a roll of thin fabric, that allows water through, but not weeds! I'm hoping it works as i've just laid 3 rolls of the stuff! It says on the pack it last 10 years Just been to my local family run garden centre and they are delivering bark to me today! Yay - I can get the veggie garden finished! I'm sooo happy!

Popcorn
Fab news Clare! Got loads of gardening to get done (if Stefan is in a better mood that is - teething ....) Christian.....what the membrane thingy called. Sounds just what I need in my garden. I have a very mature garden, which unfortunalty includes very mature weeds too. It wasn't looked after properly before we moved in, and up to now we've really only done the minimum to make it look ok...mow the lawn, tidy up the obvious bits etc.....we're now cleraing it all out and starting again. We've found some pretty fantastic weeds (in their millions, I'm sure!) and I'm not sure pulling them up is going to cure them for long enough for us to get going with the planting. Christian
I think its called weed suppressing membrane I have chucked the packaging away sorry. Wickes do buy 2 get one free. £9.99 a roll. Each roll is 20m x 1m. Good luck with the ancient weeds

We are driving to Scotland to see OHs Mum so I can't plant my beautiful new beds as not here to water! My brother (plumber) still hasn't fitted my outside tap at the back of the house either. Guest
That's a long drive Christian Have a good journey and don't worry too much about planting out yet there's plenty of time I experimented this year and just potted up a couple of seeds of everything I had bought (which was a lot of different things) and the only things not doing very well are my courgettes, which seem to have died off. They were kept in the greenhouse. I must plant some more The other thing that hasn't grown are my sweetcorn and yet Jules my 8 year old planted some in a little tray and hers are about 3" tall now, she must have green fingers I will get up very early on saturday morning and start painting for a few hours and then get in the garden
Christian
That's a long drive Christian Only 480 miles! With OH driving at 70! We should be there a week on Wednesday! I gave some sweetcorn seed to next door and all of hers came up. I only got 3 plants. Have just planted another batch, so hopefully fingers crossed. Most of my courgettes died too, but still have a few. Enjoy the garden this weekend.
