feeling sorry for myself again.

Recommended Posts

Well, sat last night watching the telly and started having some really tight feelings in the bump. Having had one before, I thought that this baby was definitely on the way - different to the braxton hicks feelings and uncomfortable. Carried on until 21:30 at which point I thought I'd best go to bed see if I could get some sleep. With only 8 days til due date, she could come any time.

Anyways, the contractions stopped by 22:00 and the fluey feeling set in - I don't know whether my body subconsciously just went "ooops, you're getting the lurgy, best keep baby inside for a bit then!" or what, but overnight I have gradually gotten worse, and this morning have no labourlike feelings at all. Instead, it's the sorest throat I have ever had, my nasal passages feel like I've rinsed through with sulphuric acid and my head is banging. On top of the hip and other assorted pains that make me feel like one of my girls laying an especially large egg, I am utterly miserable!! Fortunately for me Fridays are the one day that my three yr old goes to nursery so I have the house to myself and can go back to bed, but with only paracetamol available to me, it's looking like a bleak and cruddy day.

Got out of bed at 6am and sorted out the child then the birds, just because I knew if I go back to bed it'll end up being 10am and I'll have some very hungry and angry chooks still locked up in their beds if I didnt, despite the foxy risk. With Morgana being picked on in the coop, it had to be done. Trust it to be the morning where I go round with fresh garlic cloves and ACV for the four water stations too, not even a case of being able to just throw out the pellet feeders and come back in again!

And to think last night I had envisaged this morning having a babe in arms and seeing my son's face as he wandered in for breakfast only to find his little sister there! The baby that he has now said is NEVER coming out of mummy's tummy because it's been there for EVER and he is "fed up waiting for her! naughty baby!!". Don't come today tho missus... not sure I want to grunt thru labour with a streaming nose and sore gullet :'(

rant over. I'll go make myself some raspberry leaf tea and get back into bed with a hot water bottle methinks.

I vaguely remember feeling fairly grotty imminently before babes arrived, sounds like your body is getting ready for it, just be kind to yourself, do what you can and no more.

Babe will be here before you know it, she can't stay in there for ever! :)

Sending love, peaceful and healthy karma your way...

Oh bless you I know how you feel, I had really nasty flu when I was eight months pregnant with my last one, infact I celebrated my birthday in bed feeling grotty. I barely moved for five days, pulled all the muscles around my bump from sneezing and coughing so hard and just wanted to curl up and die. The end of a pregnancy is always the slowest most uncomfortable time, she'll be here soon though *hugs*

thanks everyone for the kind wishes, I just got back up again after 3 hours of kip (only with one loo break - now that's a feat in itself!) headache is worse but the nose seems bearable now, I can breathe and not so sore :) plus... I can have more paracetamol in just 15 mins. hurrah!

might even venture out with a thick coat and go give the folks some mealworms that always cheers me up x

Keep looking after yourself. It is nasty feeling unwell (have chest infection myself at the moment) I am glad I don't have a bump to worry about though so you must feel doubly tired. It's no wonder so many women get the baby blues - looking after children is tiring, being ill is tiring, lugging a bump around is tiring and then when the baby comes you get no sleep. :roll:

Try to get as much rest as you can and by the time the baby arrives I'm sure you'll be feeling much better. :) {{hugs}}

That is rough. I had flu when I was preggars with ED. It is horrible at the best of times, but knowing you can't take anything makes it worse. I ate lots of ice lollies as that helped with my sore throat. Are you allowed honey, or is just babies under a year who can't have it? Can't remember, but if you can, have lots of hot honey and lemon juice. Also for your headaches, try 4head or the stick on cooling headache/temp reducing patches you can get. Mainly, get as much rest as possible, keep warm and wrapped up, and get well soon (((hugs)))

I never knew about honey... I've been taking it in honey and mustard dressings (one of my cravings this time) and also a teaspoon of honey and a dash of lemon juice in raspberry leaf tea since 36 weeks. Perhaps I shouldn't have been! Oh well, too late now, so will carry on as I had (very naughty I know) a single brandy, lemon and honey and hot water before getting the bus to town before. It helped!

No idea why I thought going to town on the bus to get the last few bits and bobs would be a good idea, coz now I feel worse than ever! Am pawning the three yr old off on my husband and going to bed, with the hope that by 9pm I feel well enough to get back up to watch strictly come dancing (my favourite show in the universe). ~Hot water bottle, honey and lemon, and bed *mmmmm*
