hippy chick
I'm so sorry. I hope that your other girl is going to be ok. I think i'm going to buy a baby monitor to put in my chicken coop, At least then I would be able to hear any commotion and hopefully get to them in time. skye
Really sorry but I think you are right about the fox coming back. You'll have to make the coop safe or bring your girls inside/into a secure shed overnight until it is. skye x

gongladosh
Really sorry to hear about that. I can't stand foxes these days. I've been using a foxwatch device for 8 months now (bought from Earth Systems at www.earth-systems.co.uk) for about £40. It's been pretty effective for me so far, it might be worth looking into. Chicken shack
Do you have an Omlet chicken coup or a wooden one I thought the Omlet system is fox proof How did you get on at the vets

Blue-DiamondChick07
Well, she made it through the night and is pecking at food this morning. Just shock and bruising. The Fox came back though I'm stressing big time! Not sure what to do, scared he'll break into my growers

The Fox came back though I'm stressing big time! Not sure what to do, scared he'll break into my growers I'm glad she seems to be recovering. I think the best way of fox proofing is some sort of electric fencing. I think Flytesofancy or it could be Forsham do kits to add to the outside of a WIR type pen. Not cheap but effective. Sending hugs.

It needs to go!
CluckyBucks
Gosh how awful i hope that you and your other hens are going to be okay, everybody here is thinking of you. xx xx
chicken bark
You could put a barrier (knowles netting?) around the WIR with the electric fencing on to act as a reminder to your son not to touch the fence. With a single wire at the top and bottom there is less chance of him touching it. It also would hurt him but not do any harm. It is more of a shock that anything. I have 3 children, my eldest is now 5 and youngest 2, and as long as I remind them not to touch the fence they don't go near it. I on the other hand am not so bright and have touched it to check how strong the shock is. Alternatively you need a man with a gun. Not an approach I would take but I can see why others would.
